Growing To Save?

I hear about people gardening to save money during the recession every so often. I wanted to know how many people here are doing it, and if so, what are you growing?

I'm growing tomatos and zucchini as I usually do. And for kicks we try to grow radishes, corn, peas, and pole beans. Not only do we save money it's eductional for the entire family + the kids can show pride in what they've helped grow.

I'm trying to grow some cooking herbs in pots indoors, since I live in an apartment. I have seeds of mint and rosemary started. If I had a yard, I would grow tomatoes and cucumbers and zucchinis and squash and probably green beans, too. But since a lot of these plants are spreading vines, it just wouldn't work out so well to do them indoors. I think I might try to grow tomatoes in a pot, though, once my work gets in a good stock of tomato plants. Tomatoes are so expensive at the grocery store.
