i learned somewhere that some people can actually continue a dream when it gets interrupted in one form or another in their sleep. have you encountered this? i surely had a couple of times been able to continue and finish some dreams. i actually forgot what they were about but, yes, i got to continue them.

That's the worst - when you're having a great dream and then suddenly you're woken up! Occasionally I've been able to continue the dream, but not very often. I can lucid dream to an extent, but I haven't been able to choose what my initial dream will be, nor can I choose the topic. Once the dream starts, however, sometimes I can control it. It takes a while, but the trick is *recognizing* that you're dreaming without actually waking up. It's definitely weird!!

i have a degree in pyschology and it is said that dreaming is the way we would have thought of things had we been awake. so we really can control our dreams unless exhaustion leads our minds to wander.

This actually happens to me quite often...because I get woken up a lot since I work nights and sleep during the day. I don't think it's something we can willingly make happen, but if the amount of time we are awake is really short between sleep then I think our mind will automatically go back to the last thought it had...because when we are awakened from sleep for only a second I dont think we have a whole lot of thoughts going on :P At least I dont....my one thought is usually sleeeep! lol

sounds logical enough for me. and i guess, in my experience with this ability of continuing my dreams, you're right. there is just a short span of time that i'm awake and when i get back to sleep that's why there is still my mind's ability to continue where i stopped in my dreams.

Yes I have been able to do that in the past. At one point I had trained myself to be able to interact in my dreams, and I think that that has helped me when having nightmares now. If I have a dream that is scary, I just think "I don't like this, I'm going to wake up" and I do. I don't know if I do it, or if an angel does it or what, but whatever it is I am glad that I can or have an entity to do that for me.
