Calling spouse/partner/frien with real name or nickname? Which sounds intimate?

I call my wife mostly by nickname and I feel it shows the intimacy. (But she feels different.) I call my son too by nickname and he likes it very much. (When sometimes I call him by name, he tells "call me by the other name")
How do you call your spouse/partner/friend? What would you like to be called by your spouse/partner/friend? Your name? Or some nickname?

I think its better to call with nick names, and I never used to call my close ones with their names, even to my parents I have given nicknames and I love to call them with nick names...

It is personal and best confined to that level.For me this not a subject of discussion on mylot although I can not question your right to do so.

Hi.
WE all (in my family) use only the nick names until and unless we are telling something to someone from outside and I feel it is great. I like calling my friends by nick name as well.

You are obsolutely right, by calling our closed one by their nick name will give more intimate than calling them in their name..
Not only your spouse/kids, even if you call your mom, dad, your relatives and also your friends, they will also feel more intimacy with you, and also they will be very close to you, rather than others..
So, Call everyone with their nick name will always will make you very close to their heart..
Try to do with your surroundings, you will find the differences..

Hello venkataraman! My husband called each other "honey" That shows more intimacy. We rarely called each other by names and usually I call him his name when I am angry..hehehe..

Ya. Calling people by nicknames makes you closer with them.
But i call only my friends with their nicknames.

i call my bf "honey" but when im angry i call him in fullname! he calls me "hon" and i like it a lot!
