Do you think names determine personality? What's your favourite name?

I am really fussy about names and I think if I ever have children it will be almost impossible for me to choose a name. I read recently that names can even determine how happy or sad we are. I am not sure how true this is, but apparently if you're called Josh you're more likely to be happy and if you're called Ben you're more likely to be unhappy. I can't remember the names they said for girls. I do think people who have more flamboyant or unusuals name tend to be more outgoing...but then again some people say they can't live up to their name. Do you think being named after an important person or even a famous fictional character places too much pressure on someone? Do you think you would have been different if you'd been called something else? If you've had children, was it difficult to choose a name?

in a way, yes, but not the majority of it. Japanese names are sometimes derived to something or pertaining to a person character for example the names SAKURA which literally means in Japanese as "Cherry Blossom" is a very common name for a Japanese girls. "Midori" which is the color blue...and the blue color signifies a persons character and strengths.
my name literally has no meaning on it but i am the one who makes my personality and character, it's a good thing that my parents didn't gave me name that i don't have any such personality. that would really be a shame.

I think this is not true and my opinion is just like the great Shakespeare when he said that 'What's in the name?'....name can not be a sign about one's personality...that is my personal experience....when I see my friends and I find that they are just opposite to their name....I think this is what...my name is Rashmie and it mean in Hindi..Light...And I don't think that I am anything like this.....

Thanks for your response Rashmie! Good point about the Shakespeare quotation, he was right when he wrote ' a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' I know some people who seem to 'suit' their names and some who don't, but most of the time I don't know the meanings of their names so I don't know if they're really like their name's meaning.
