Hello, cuttyrish.I am very pleased that you like chinese culture. Yes ,china has a long and splendid history. To better know her culture ,you have to know its language same as learning other foreign language. Pinyin is basic in chinese just like phonetic symbol in english .In the beginning ,you could learn from the simple pharses or sentense. Do you have any chinese book or reference book ,you could learn from them .Persist and be confident, you could learn it very well. If you have difficulty in chinese,i could try my best to help you. If you found sth wrong in my english expression, ple correct me. I will appreciate very much. Tks again.

Hi, I am from the Philippines. I don't know a lot about Chinese culture and language. I'd love to learn especially the Mandarin language. In Philippines, Chinese-Filipinos speak Fokkien.
I would also be willing to aid you in learning the English language.

Good evening(wan shang hao) ,myhepeng. It's true that chinese is one of the most difficulty language in the world. If you want to learn chinese, you have to learn from the basic knowledge, such as pinyin (just like phonetic symbol in english) . Then you could learn words, phrases and sentense .You could find some chinese book and read . Take it easy and believe yourself .If any problems in learning chinese ,ple let me know. Thank you (=xie xie )

I am from the UK, and I have already tried to learn Cantonese, because I had a student from Hong Kong staying with me. I didn't get very far, just a few phrases. Cantonese and English are so very different in the way sentences are put together. Do you speak Mandarin or Cantonese? Lei ho ma?

Hello katsalot1,your cantonese is very well :). I speak Mandarin and do not well in cantonese. However ,i like cantonese especially cantonese songs. Most of the songs are good to hear.In my opinion ,mandarin is easier to learn than cantonese .If you have intrest in mandarin ,i could teach you some phrases or sentence. Happy in mylotter!!

I am from India and have never encountered Chinese...and even if I heard then obviously I could not understand that it is Chinese.....I would definitely like to learn Chinese..Chinese is great language and is gifted with vast classical literature...however, in India, regrettably..there is few scope of learning this language...this may be due to estranged relation between our countries...I have also came to know that Chinese is a very tough language to learn, and a new student will take years to just practice the script..will you clear me on this....

Hi,rashmie. To me ,englishi is a difficult language to learn. It took me nearly 10 years to leant but now my english vocabulary is still not enough. I can totally understand your feeling when deciding to learn a foreign language. So first ,be confident and try to practice more . You could learn chinese from pinyin which is a basic foudation .Then you could gradually learn more complex . Any problems in learning chinese , pls feel free to contact me.
PS: if i have anything wrong in english expression ,ple correct me .Tks in advance .
