that can actually be used on your lap?
The last several generations of laptops produce so much heat that they are extremely uncomfortable to balance on your knees. Both my wife and I (we use the same PC) have permanent red burns on our left legs. It's not so much a battery overheating problem (it stays plugged into the wall), but the CPU and electronics get so hot, that it will actually burn you if placed on skin.

I think that you posed a very good question. I use a laptop and I sit with my legs crossed and feet under them I think that they use to call it Indian style and so the "hot" spot never touched me.

I put a blanket on my lap when I'm sitting on the couch. I still get the burns, but not as badly. It is somewhat nice fighting of the Canadian cold, though.

Yup! And the stupid things overheat, if you put something too thick on your leg to protect it from getting burned. I swear, the only thing we're really getting out of this laptop is a new way to BBQ flesh!!! Grrrr.... The nice thing about laptops is we're not always stuck in one place. Unfortunately the last three laptops I've had have burnt me almost to a friggen crisp!!

If you have issues with your laptop getting to hot - purchase a laptop cooler. its a set of fans your laptop sits on and can be on your lap that helps to cool the laptop.
I bought one for about 30 dollars and my laptop doesnt have the problems like ahotspot when its on my lap.
I saw someone commented that the laptop gets hotter of the fans are covered...of course it does it has to have SOMEWHERE for the heat generated by the power and moving parts to go...if you plug the fans exhaust ports then of course its going to overheat and turn off - turning off is a protection feature for the laptop so you dont damage it.

Hi there. I'd really like for that to happen too. I usually use my laptop when I'm in bed so I have to actually place it on my lap so that I could use it while I recline on my pillows. I have to place it over a pillow or a thick blanket, though, just to avoid getting burnt.
