"Independence Day" is currently on television (Space channel in Canada). Even though this is a serious movie with a serious subject (and a lot of violence), Will Smith adds just enough levity to make it enjoyable (the same way Richard Dean Anderson does to Stargate SG-1).
Does anyone else like this movie or even the genre?

Well, you know my answer. Not my cup of tea, but that's OK. you knew I wasn't into sci-fi when you married me....well all except for the stuff you write. LOL I enjoy it in a book with no noisy sound effects in the background. Good timing for it to be on, since I was at the coffee shop for most of the afternoon.

Would you believe, I just saw Independence Day for the first time a few months ago and I really enjoyed it. I agree, Will Smith took this film to a higher level than it may have been otherwise. I like movies likes this but only if they have the kind of cast that can pull it off.
