I believe that most of us here are guilty of this. That is using the cellular phone while driving. May it be calling or answering a call or perhaps even sending an SMS. Well, I am guilty to. I have done this couple of times and I am not proud of it. I am sure you know that this act is really unsafe. So who of you here are as guilty as I am?

Absolutely not. A. I don't own and mobile phone and B. It is so thoughtless. That quick call or text might kill you, or worse, see you kill someone else. A hands free phone is marginally better, but best of all is to turn the thing off. Happy and careful motoring.

That is really true my friend. It is really unsafe and really thoughtless. Good thing I have never suffered any accident doing so. Now I really do not do it anymore. I just realized that its really dangerous. Worst, we might end up hurting others. Usually when there is really a need for me to answer a call or make a call, I pull over on the side of the road.

No, I won't admit it.
Cause I don't have a car. (boring joke)
On a serious note, it could lead to carelessness and you could end up hurting yourself or others. I have seen many people stop their vehicles and then answer or return calls. I think more people should be doing this.

Hahaha, I see. Well, I do answer my phone or text even when I am driving my car before. But now, I always pull over on the roadside if I answer a phone call or text my phone. I have already realized that it could hurt someone or hurt myself if I continue my old ways. Best to you and be safe always!

Hello there kevsgirlalways... great of you to share your actions. Many people in our area are doing these. I used to feel comfortable using the phone while driving. May it be calling or texting. Well, its really not good and is quite dangerous. Perhaps when the stoplight is on Red then it would be okay. But we should not concentrate more on the phone otherwise we me miss to see the green light. Best to you!

I use the phone while driving, but I would never text, that is very unsafe. I dial the phone when stopped, and then talk. I truly believe there is no difference between talking while holding the phone, or using a hands-free device. In fact, for me it is more dangerous to use the hands-free headset. I have a cheapo bluetooth headset that does not stay on, so I have to hold it on or hunt for it when it falls. Plus, my phone has horrible voice-recognition function, so it takes several tries, during which I need to look at the phone and make sure it is actually dialing the correct number, all the while giving me phone rage to add to my road rage! Really, I am safer using my phone, I usually drive one handed anyway, since I am usually eating, drinking, playing with my hair or something if I am not on the phone. I have no qualms about dropping the phone if I needed the other hand.
I think they've made it MORE dangerous to talk on the phone now that it is illegal, since now it is necessary to keep an eye out for cops and try to hide the phone or quickly hang up if I see them...THAT is more dangerous than the actual talking.

Hi there fluffysue, I do think that there are people who can do different tasks at one time without having any problems. Perhaps you are one of them. Though using the phone while driving may take away some of your concentration on the road. But doing so while on the stop would not hurt. Here, there are some cities that have come up with some laws that makes the use of the phone while driving illegal. However, here it is not properly enforce. So even if the enforcers see you using the phone while driving, nobody is arrested.

I don't drive but if I did, I don't think I'd have enough confidence to answer calls and especially not to send or read SMS - I might get into an accident! I'm still not that good of a driver to do any of that :P I'd be too scared!
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I see, I guess that would certainly make you a very safe person if ever you can drive. Using the phone while driving is something that is quite dangerous not only for you but most especially to the bystanders as well. I do hope that you will become a good driver soon and do hope that you will not use your phone later on while driving. Be safe always!

Well considering that my mom was in an accident because of a women talking on her cell phone while driving, I don't. I really don't think that there is an excuse for it, especially considering all the hands free devices that are available. Instead of talking with the phone in your hand, you just pop the piece in your ear and off you go. This way you still get to talk and you keep your hands free for doing what your supposed to, DRIVING.

I guess that would be a good thing to do. Though some people are also not in favor with those considering that you may also lose your concentration. But certainly it would depend on the person and of course it is much safer than holding the phone with your one hand while the other hand is doing all the driving.

Hey,
No I still can't drive, so I can't admit that I have used my cell phone for driving. But when I do get my license, which will be in a few weeks, I will not drive while I am on my phone, it is one of the most dangerous things a person can do while driving. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Well, I agree with you that driving while using the cellular phone is really dangerous. It is important to concentrate as you drive. Using the phone can distract us from the concentration and it may cause accidents. I am glad that you are one of those that will consider this danger. I do hope that you will remember this when you can drive already. Best to you!

No Actually I am not guilty of this one. My cell stays on vibrate most of the time because at home I don't use it, I have a land line and when I am out I am usually in a meeting or a place that I can't answer it anyway. So even if it does ring while I am driving I never answer it. I'm glad you have realized it though and hopefully you wont continue such a dangerous action. Be Safe!

Yes, I have realized my mistake. It is really unsafe. I have also started doing what you have. I have set my phone to vibrate to let me know if someone is calling. Usually when I have the time to pull over, I will. But in most cases, I do not and will just check out the call when I am not driving anymore.

I have never used my phone when driving. I have seen and heard of so many accidents caused by this. The worst thing is that it is usually the person who is using their phone that gets away unscathed, whilst the innocent person is killed or injured.

Yes you are right. Most people who get killed are those that are on the road and not the one driving when it comes to using the phone while driving. I am not doing it anymore but I have done it before. Now I do my best not to answer or call anyone while driving.

I have never used my mobile and also will never use in future. I am fully aware of the danger of using the phones while driving and also I have heard many incidents and I have seen 2 such fatal accidents. This is for my safety and also due to fear of facing the accident and also the medical expenses if we are live even after the accident. If I get calls, I will simply park by the side of the road and will attend the call and mostly the mobile will be in silent mode, as I don't to listen if I am getting calls.

I've done it once because I got lost, I put it on speaker and placed the phone on the chair next to me though. It's now illegal to use the cell phone while driving where I live, but I still see people do it a lot, especially texting, which is probably worse...

I think that would make it a little bit safer since you can still concentrate while you drive. Well, I also see a lot of people using the phone while driving and I think its really dangerous. Most especially texting while driving. Wow, it is very common here. As you can see, our country is considered the text capital of the world. So you can only imagine a lot of people texting and that includes those that are driving.

I am guilty of this too.. but sometimes there are this some situations in your life when you come to a point when it's more important to answer that SMS provided you can at least do two things at the same time.. and when doing this still concentrate more on how you are driving and less concentration on the SMS that you are sending. But of course like me i have memorize the keypad already so now i could text while driving without looking on what im texting and get it sent on the right time especially responding through emergencies of the heart which is love. =)

Hahaha, you surely know your way around. I also see a lot of people doing such even when driving a motorcycle. Well, in my case, I will pull over along the side if there is a need for me to text. But with respect to answering calls, I do answer them with the hands free kit. Do take care and be safe always.

There are so many people that do it and they shouldn't everytime I am driving in my car you see everyone on cell phones they are dangerous when driving people know it but they still talk on cellphone while driving, I use the speaker but that is dangerous too. I don't do it very often.

I agree with you that it is completely dangerous. That is why as much as possible I do not do it anymore. As you can see, we have certain laws that arrest people for such kind of violation. But the enforcement is not really done, so a lot of people are doing it. Well, I have completely realized that it is not good and I do not do it anymore. Great of you for sharing your thoughts. Lets make the road more safer by not using our mobile phones while driving... Best to you!

Yes, it is unsafe. But I have never use my phone while I am driving. Because I am nervous about driving and never do that again after study that. I think I won't do that even when I am back to be a driver. I love my life and want to live longer and also don't want to hurt other people.
I am not guilty of that.

I see, that is really great xplp. It is really foolish and I know that it is really dangerous. I still see a lot of people doing so here in our country. The thing is most people will only learn their mistakes when an accident happens and usually it is too late.

That is certainly safe of you to do. I know what I'm doing is quite unsafe. People sometimes only stop when something wrong happens. But I surely have stopped doing it already. I would not wait for such accidents or injuries to happen to me and most especially to bystanders along the road.
