I just got a Google alert for one of my articles which has been stolen and published by http://news.indoweblog.com You might want to drop in and see if they've stolen any of yours. It's owned by one "R Wahyudi", email is on his whois record: yudhitech@gmail.com

Sorry somebody stole your stuff! I didn't see any of my work there. At least you know they liked your article(s)! Best wishes.

Actually, it's more likely that an automated RSS plugin to WordPress just sucked the article in and posted it. Given that it was a Christmas title, I can't see any other reason for it appearing in March..!!

It is this threat of plagiarism that has stopped me posting on 'public' sites like AC and Helium. I only use 'agency' sites like Words of Worth but there's not enough work there at the moment. If ONLY there was an on-line tool that we could use, which prevented people cee-peeing our work. I know artists have one, as when I tried to copy an image to use in an on-line jigsaw puzzle, I was unable to do so. I would pay for anything that put a stop to this kind of practice. Good idea to use whois, though. Let the barstewards know that WE know!

I always send them an email, telling them to remove it, pay for it or face the consequences. OK, so I probably couldn't prosecute him, but I could try - and if not, I can post about it all over the place and watch his site hits drop like a rock. Don't mess with the Lobster.

That's terrible, Spike. I know I have seen other people steal and put the information on Helium like it was their own. That is what I would be most worried about with the fiction that you are writing. With nonfiction, I don't like it or approve of plagiarism either, but with fiction...that is truly your own imagination that no one can copy. It's what makes you, well...you. I hope you get the guy to put it down. Good luck with that. People are such cheaters on the Internet sometimes, it brings out the worst in people at times.

Indeed. That's one reason I don't post creative writing (with that one recent exception). When it's finished, copyrighted and registered somewhere, OK, but until then I'm not posting another word of it. It's just too easy to steal ideas, even if the text is changed.

I saw that you already posted that the site was down now so I didn't even get a chance to check it out to see if any of my work was on there. I hope not!

The site's still there - it's a communal blogging thing. The owner took my article down specifically. It'd still be worth checking for yours!

Ugh! I really hate to see things like this. I write for Associated Content, and I hope my articles are not on any sites like this. I saw your other post, and am glad that the page was taken down. Hopefully R Wahyudi has learned his lesson, if thats the person to blame. People's work should never be stolen, but sadly it is sometimes.

I've had the same thing happen to me - only I didn't have an article stolen/plagiarized. I had my entire BLOG copied and posted to someone else's blog. He was passing the blog off as his own freelance writing site. (yes, that includes copying my first ever post that says "Hi, My name is Bianca"). His blog has now been suspended for plagiarism. I won't put the details here on MyLot, but I have put the exact details (including email correspondence between me and the thief). http://ravens-writing.blogspot.com/2009/04/plagiarism-is-theft.html

I just checked the site and it apparently has been deleted. Thanks for the heads up on this one, I had something similar happen to me not too long ago. Good luck and happy writing :)
