It's funny because it was your supervisor who taught you the ropes to stop being "by the book" so you can get yourself "off the hook". Lol! Well i hope he/she is not just testing you if you'll try it or not. Regardless, you can always point the finger at him/her lol! Stats lie. Businesses use KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) which are generally badly selected and don't actually indicate that you're doing a good job or not. I've never lied to make them look better, but I've been lucky enough to have bosses who understood that a statistic doesn't define how well I'm working. And they have always known that if it were needed, I'd happily go and tell the Directors that their performance system sucked. If your supervisor showed you how to work around the numbers system, there's a good chance that they consider you a good worker. This is what matters. Twisting the numbers is just to avoid them getting hassle when they know that your work is fine. Provided you're not cheating to advance, but simply to make the stats match your work's actual quality, I don't see a problem.
