Do you donate in ways other than money?

A poor man complained, "Why I never succeed." The wiseman told him, "You should learn to donate." "I have no money." "There are at least seven donations you can offer even if you have no money." - Facial, smile to show friendliness, - Speech, to encourage, console, praise, etc., - Heart, to accomodate people with sincerity, - Eye, to extend goodwill, - Body, to volunteer help, - Seat, to give people in need, on vehicles, and - House, to let people rest, as in old days." "Good luck follows, if you follow these habbits."

I have done somethings other than donating money. I don't usually donate money as I do believe that it encourages other people to keep asking from you. These were the things I have already done other than donating money: -I donated canned goods. -I volunteered to be a teacher -I became a volunteer(different from being a teacher) -I babysit -I did a speech -I offer a shoulder to cry on -I became a listening ear to some of the less fortunate.

yes, i donate old books, clothes, shoes, bags, and things that i once own but i don't use it anymore but still wearable and presentable. like for example Jolibee (a fast food chain), conducts an annual drive for books donations and clothes as well. i also tried to donate blood under the name of my friend but sad to say i was rejected by the nurse cause i was under weight. i felt useless that time cause my friend really need blood for his dialysis, now he is quietly resting in eternal peace.

Yes. The most that I always donate quarterly is my own type "O" blood. I believe in this way I donate life because blood is life. On the other hand it gives me a health benefit. I donate 4 times a year..How about you do you donate? Cash or in kinds?

Hi, I can only think of items to be donated other than money. The matters that you mentioned are the basic things that we should do each day. I am making a donation each day? There is a website call freerice.com where you play the game and 10 grains of rice will be donated through the United Nations World Food Program for each correct answers.

I donate old clothes that I can't wear any more or my children can't fit any more to the homeless people at a soup Kitchen. Also I will donate can goods and non perishable products. I have given my seat up on the bus for someone who needed it. There are many ways to donate if you don't have money.

There are a plethora of ways to help others without money. It would not be difficult to compile a list of ways because you can do almost anything to help another person. I think that the best way to help others is to give time. By giving time you are helping first hand and you can create a bond with the cause that you are fighting for. Good luck and happy mylotting.

I do help others, but I never think of that as helping. I am not the volunteering kind though. I had a bad experience in that I was asked to volunteer when we were trying to adopt, but according to their standards, we were not good enough. So we had to move out the province to adopt. I will do something but I will not even think about it, and I do not consider a smile as a help, at least not my smile or my speech. I mean if one is a child of God, one does these things naturally and one does not consider it as a donation. Now if I did, I probably would not leave the house.

While I was reading your discussion, I felt as if this particular post was made to make people realize that everyone is rich as an individual. And somehow, I felt that this was sent to me in particular. During this crisis-stricken times, almost everyone is in search for additional funds mainly for survival. Sometimes, we tend to focus our energies in acquiring and accumulating wealth; and ignore the God-given gifts we have which we could share with others. Like you mentioned here, there are a lot of other non-monetary blessings we have which we could offer or use to help others in need and glorify God as well. And just to add another item in your list, I'd like to include one's talents which is a natural gift. For instance, you could volunteer to sing in a church for various ocassions without expecting anything in return. Anyway, I have personally given some of these things like a smile, words of encouragement, food, and bits of advice. Further, I prefer giving things in kind since I'm not so wealthy financially. Regards.

Thank you so much for spelling it out in such nice words, which is beyond my language ability. And you are contributing with your concrete ways to help people. I do feel obliged to arouse a bit of joyful feelings in this time of difficulty. And I am honored to have received so many kind responses. This is a meaningful discussion for all of us. Thanks to all involved, and to the site.

Hi zhuhuifen, I have always donated of my time as a volunteer but not as much today as when I was younger. I am still Chair of our local library Board, a position that I've held for about ten years now. I also donate used clothing and books and magazines to Seniors homes.I also have a friend who lives alone and my wife and I invite him to share a meal with us at least once a week. These are things that I can do even on a fixed income. Blessings.

I try to help out in any way that I can although sometimes I don't feel so good when I feel obligated to do something. I would prefer to do it on my own volition and not have to be forced to do it. Cheers!!

I do a lot of volunteer work, so I definitely donate in ways other than money. Whenever there is a cause I strongly support, I do whatever I can to make a difference. I donate money, volunteer my time, donate supplies, educate others and do whatever I can to raise awareness.

Well, I would think I do but that is my opinion..I love the way you have them wrote out like that they need to be printed off and put so others can see them as well when we think there is noting we can do because we are hit bad because of job losses and the economy is rising fast..It will make us remember that everything isn't about money and there is still some things we can do to help others that would actually make us gain a sense of pride and enjoyment for helping others..

Yes, I agree, you can donate to life in so many ways. We are like energies to other people, if we withhold it, we begin to feel tired and lethargic, but if we participate and give of ourselves, we can feel energized.. - Derek

First of all, thanks for sharing this. I personally love it very much. Yes, I do donate in ways other than money. I smile when I meet people. I believe it can make the other feel better and if everyone always bring a smile sure the world could be a better place. Of course, I do donate through speech, heart and eye too. As for body, due to safety reason, it always make me reluctant to donate in such a way. As for seat, I seldom take public transport. House, no, so far.

Well,I am sure that you are right.Giving is the basical way to find the value of our life. One goal of mine is to help my family,my friends, and some other people to have a happy life.Maybe one day,I will be rich and I will have more abilities to give to the society;maybe I will not be so rich, but I still can give.Giving not only leads to succeed, but also to happy.Thank you for your sharing,my friend.

Well yes. Most of the time I gave food or things, they say that when you gave money to some organization that claims to help the poor or other people not the whole money you gave will be in good most of the time it will be on others pocket. So for me I go with food and things.
