Are you one of those people who have a bad habit of biting your nails? Do you ever try to quit biting your nails?
I used to bite mine horribly, but then I started clipping them off whenever I had the urge to bite them, and a few weeks later I was no longer in the habit of doing it. What are some techniques you have tried to stop biting your nails?
I don't like my nails too long. I'm a very low maintenance kind of chick. I clip them about once a month or so. If I have a hang nail or rough edge or something, I do bite that one nail once in awhile, but it's not often and it's not a habit I have. How about you?

I never addict in bitting my nail because I have feel that I will get a stomachache if I bite my nail that contain much germ. I usually cut my nail by clipping it. I have no schedule in clipping my nail so I will clip it if I feel it already too long.
Keep post
happy myLotting...

well, i don't actually have a habit of biting my nails, not even in nail biting situations.i have know that biting nails shows low self confidence. if you bit nais in front of someone the they would feel that you are either in confusion or you lack confidence.
for those who are in a habit of biting nails- just try biting your nails in front of th mirror. you would yourself not like looking at your face, then you cannot expect to leave a good impression on others.

Good point, it probably would look silly to see yourself biting nails in the mirror.

Hi, Bethany1202! When I was younger, I used to bit my nails when I was very nervous or when I was deep in thought. But now that they are longer, I don't bite them down. I let them break off on their own. The only time that I bite them is when it looks like it is about to chip off. I love to grow my nails longer. I am actually looking for a nail polish that acts like Biotin. I want them to be very long and strong!

I can't gnaw on my hands unless I'm eating something out of them.

No, I have never been one to bite my nails. It actually bugs me when I see other people bite theirs. I had a friend in high school that used to bite hers all the time. Most of the time she wasn't even aware that she was doing it. I know it's a nervous habit. I'm just glad that i never picked it up.

I do not usually bite my nails unless they are uneven. But I am a biter. If I get nervous or upset I will bite my arm. It saves me from screaming out loud and getting mad at the person. I like my nails medium, not to long but with one eight of an inch showing. And my fingernails grow like wildfire. If I did not cut them at least once a week, I would look like those one of those evil Oriental women that were on those 1930 movies shown on TCM, the female equivalent of Fu Manchu.

I also do it for special occasions like in july when I have a wedding to go to...

Fortunately, I never acquired this habit, but several people I know have. My cousin chews her down so far that they bleed at times. Ouch!!! She doesn't even act like it hurts, but I would think that it has to hurt a little bit. After watching a medical television show about all of the things that we touch each day and how many germs are on our hands, I'd rather not chew on my fingernails!

Biting nails is a bad habit. I had this habit when I was in school and my teacher always use to stop me. Somehow I stopped with this but it took a long time. I found one of my friend with the same habit in college days and seeing that I use to keep him taunting saying you have a very bad habit. I couldn't stop him from this so on the last day of our college I gifted him a nailcutter. After years when I met him somewhere I asked him first about this habit and he said it's no more nail biting now. Many people do bite nails when they are nervous.

Hello there! We have the same problem before. When I was younger, I would really bite my nails to the point that I would still bite them even during class. Then my parents meddled with this problem and put mittens on my hands so that I won't bite them anymore. They did this every night for weeks until I didn't have the urge to bite them anymore.

I am a student of psychology, I mean I am still studying human psychology and found there that those who are in habit of nail biting are either introvert by nature or low confident or suffer from inferiority complex. And blissfully I have not that habit.

Biting nails is a bad habit which i always had though i did not get rid of it completely but some how my friends kept on accusing me when ever i bite nails and i used to feel embarassed when they do to me and even when i am not with them, it used to remind of them accusing me and now i atleast stopped biting a lot compared to what i used to do before and i am sure soon i will reduce it completely and need to thank my friends for it.
