This is a question that I have been thinking about a lot recently. I have a little girl that is about to turn 5 and never wanted her to grow up believing in nothing. So after years of doing it my way I have been thinking about surrendering my will to a higher power. Which path is the right path? I know what I believe I want to see what you do.

I think you should ask God to show you the right path. I would also ask God to reveal himself to you. As you do this, be prepared to put aside your own thoughts and ideas and see where it takes you.

NOBODY say who god is... Because we are only human, we have no place to say what he looks like. God is who created us and the world. God is love.

You said the truth and hit the nail on the head. God is love. I like to do a search on a Bible program like http://biblegateway.com/ for the words "God is." A pretty neat picture emerges and it is a wonderful study to look up the Bible words for a deeper meaning.

My mother had the same issue. :) She would force me to try things out, go to church.. etc. I hated every moment of it and refused to see the beauty in philosophy. Then she gave up, or more like let me have it my way. I got into Buddhism, and now consider this my main belief. I hope you want them to have a belief, and not your belief. Just let them experience the world on their own.

I was raised Christan but have found something bigger in Islam. There is a sense of peace that I get when I pray. It is a feeling that I do not get with praying to a Christan god. Maybe it is I do not believe that an almighty god has any need of children. God is everlasting so why would he have to procreate. Procreation is how we ensure the survival of our species. We are hard wired to think that babies are cute.

Hi phoenix, in our lifetime, we should believe in something. Since we have something to stand for, we can undergo anything. Love, family, friendship, iron will,... can be such a thing. But they're human factors, and imperfect because humans are not perfect. That's why they must define God as a perfect thing to rely on absolutely. But the problem is whether prefection is good or it's superflous and expensive? It depends on each one. If you think that your love is strong enough, your family is happy enough, your will is ironic enough to keep you on your way, so you don't need to waste your time, your money, and your belief for something you've never seen.

when you asked 'who' I am sure you expect the answer to be a person. I think a higher power you thought of has to be not just a power, but has will to. If the higher power has no will and intelligence then it cannot choose to influence the young kid. Only when 'it' has will and intelligence then 'it' can choose to work. But once 'it' has will and intelligence, then that cannot be 'it'; that has to be a person. Because only person has will and intelligence; 'it' does not have. And for me, that higher power who has will and intelligence to whom I can put my faith, and whom I would recommend if I am asked, is Jesus Christ. So for me when the question 'who is God?'is asked, I would say 'look at Jesus Christ'. Good day!

religion - religious signs
i'm seventeen, and i wasn't brought up to anything. religion has never been a big deal to me, but this also allowed me to venture out and experience some new things. when i was younger i remember wanting to go to church with my friends and sometimes with people my mom and i knew. at first it was curiosity and then i realized that i just didn't understand it and i don't feel strongly enough about it to say that i have a religion. so i'm proud to say that I'm a non-believer, and i'm happy with that. who knows maybe one day i'll come across something that just feels right to me. if your daughter has questions, try to answer them the best way you can. if you don't feel comfortable sending her to church, or you feel like you're forcing something onto her, then maybe you shouldn't do it.

I have seen nonbelievers that were more passionate about their disbelief than passionate believers. If you are happy with what you believe is what really matters.

My friend every one will say that his path is rite one like i am Muslim and for myself i am soo sure that i am on rite path and i will only tell you that Islam is rite path and in the same way pplz from other religions will convenience you for their path. I just want to say that it all depends on you what you have to chose. Pray from God every night, no matter in what shape or way you recognize him currently, that show me the rite path. The path for which you have created me give me the knowledge so i can recognize you in true manners. I firmly hope God will show you what is the rite way of life. My prayers are with you also.

Hmm... it is confusing, isn't it? I have a newborn. I don't see sense in Christianity anymore; so I refuse to baptize him into a religion that has such a bloody and gory history. At the same time, I feel he needs a community; a set of beliefs to hold on to till he begins to ask questions. I feel Hinduism is more peaceful than Christianity; so decided to convert to it. We need some sort of community to grow in. Cheers and happy Mylotting

You do not have to teach your kids about religion. Teach them what you know about God.If it is enough for you, it will be enough for them. God touches everyone's life no matter what you believe. Believing has never really been an issue with God. It is a must with religion.
