Hey there! That is not the way to determine your typing speed. It's not letters per minute. It should be words per minute. Well, I can go as fast as 70 words per minute. Sometimes when I use a different keyboard than what I am using I go slower to as much as 50+ words per minute. If the keyboard is a little bit smaller or the keys are hard to press I tend to be slow. But I always have a 100% accuracy.

Thank you for your response.I once passed a test of typing and got a certificate. Typing speed is calculated by letters, not by words as words may differ in length. I am not sure which one is the standard. Have a nice day!

I passed the test with a typing machine when I was in school several years ago. The administrator determined our typing speed just by letters. More than ten years has passed. From then on, I always think that typing speed is determined by letters per minute. I don't know the criterion has been changed. Thank you for your explanation.

Hi, friend! I'm Chinese, too. I really can't imagine how you can type chinese words so fast. 100 per minute is very excellent performance. I think few can manage that. Good luck!

Personally, I haven't been able to determine my typing speed for quite sometime now. I remember when I was still a first year student in college, I took up 2 units of Typing course. We were given techniques and training to develop mastery of typewriter keyboard by hands, along with several typing jobs which we have to finish within the allotted time of 1 full hour. Normally, most of us found it difficult to comply with our professor's requirements during the first few months. Eventually, some of us were able to achieve mastery of the keyboard and attain a typing speed which was not exactly that of a lightning speed but was fair enough. And primarily due to the several years of absence of typing practice on my part, my typing speed naturally slowed down. At present, the only practice I derive from is here in mylot community so I'm definitely thankful for this wonderful site; aside from the extra earnings I get from here. By now, I think I have a slow rate of 15 to 20 words a minute. Regards.

My typing speed is pretty slow. I think probably 20 to 30 words per minute only.

This is a common question and common curiosity. But very few people know self typing speed. The speed varies, I think. A few years ago, I used to type very slowly. I could not use my two hands to type. I used to type with only one hand. For this I could not type very fast. But now I use both hands to type and I have never counted how many words I am typing per minute. I have typed this response in 90 seconds. Now you may count my speed!

Me neither, I don't know how many letters I can type in a minute but I do know that I can type between 60 - 80 words per minute. Cheers, Cest_moi
