I want to be a musician. But I can sing and play drums equally good, and I really want to learn guitar. Which would you think is most worth while.

I am not a guitar player myself but my husband is. He has been playing for about 20 yrs and he also teaches others. I too want to learn to play but I think I want to learn bass first. He has tried to teach me guitar but I need to make more time for that. From the little but that I have learned from him and also a bit from what I have heard him telling his "students" I know that you should always learn your strings first. You need should know the names and the setup of them on the guitar. A lot of people usually want to learn guitar because of a certain song or a certain band and when they come in they just focus on wanting to learn that one song. Which is all well and good but if you don't learn your strings first and even how to read a tab and how the setup is then you are only going to know that song. And most people end up giving up on the guitar before they even start because then that is the only song you know and after awhile you get tired of that song and want to learn more. I takes a lot more time learning your strings and set up but at least you know that after you are done you can learn almost any song on your own. I think from watching my husband if you are wanting to say be in a band or start one, singing is probably your best bet because at least around our area they are hard to come by and if you have that talent use it. Anyway can learn how to play an instrument but it is a lot harder to be taught how to sing..I think you either have it or you don't. But heck why not maybe try all three and see how far they take you. I wish you the best...
