Are you a day-person or a night-person?

Do you thrive on the dark? Living shrouded in the shadows, like an owl or a mouse. Is the night sky the setting for what you consider as your life? Or do you live in the light? Basking in the glow of the sun above you. Living each day with such vivid color and joy because the light "feels right"? What do you prefer? It's pretty simple really. Me? I'm a day person, but I can relate with "night people" more... Go figure.

According to Chineese astrology I am a moon person, that means I am a night person depending on the year in which I was born. It is 1982. I got this information from a chineese resturant table mat. Lol. But,I don't knoe whether it is true or not. Sometimes I will thik I am a night person, but sometimes the other way.

I'm definitely an early morning person. It's not unusual for me to get up at 3 a.m. if I have something I want to do. When I was teaching, I got to school at 5:30 each morning in order to get everything ready for the day. Of course, I'm ready to relax by lunch time, and I go to bed around 8 p.m. My husband is just like me, so we get along very well. Why is it that night people always have to harass morning people about going to bed so early? I don't harass them about getting up so late!

When I went to nights, I kept getting early morning calls from day people. Especially the people who used to work nights!! Some people are just inconsiderate, period. If you've always been a night person, you don't realize the morning person is sleeping the same amount as you, their hours are just different. My hubs didn't get why I always went to bed so early, cause he worked nights and then got up at 7 am to do farm work. I'm too lazy for that!

Hi friends, To say I'm not a morning person is an understatement. I hate the morning. Thank God my kids are old enough to fend for themselves now. Lord knows I spent enough days and nights mixed around when I had my three children. Now I find night time is the right time. I just love sitting here on my computer, it's now almost 1:00 am and I'm just getting started. If unemployment wasn't such a b....I'd be a lot happier. But I'm from a little wee town and there isn't much here. My car decided to die on me just at the end of November. (That was a fun Christmas). My husband drives a work truck which is standard (I can't drive standard to save my life). Not ideal situation, but we make due with what we have. My kids bellies are full, we're warm and I get the luxury of sleeping night or day. (Bonus) Cheers, Cheryl

Hi there inkyuboz! Years back, I was more of a night person. Not that I did not like the daylight. But I was more active from early evening to dawn. That is why I didn't have much problem working on my homework when I was in college. When I started working, I became more of a day person.

On a normal day I am more of a day person. I like to get up early in the morning and am typically in bed by 10 pm or earlier. If I am out with friends or on a vacation I like the night hours and can stay up pretty late. It just depends on what I am doing at the time.

I think I am much of a night person, like an owl or a mouse. I love the beauty of the night, it's silence, it's eerie feel, it's feeling on loneliness. Pretty freaky, right? But I usually like to live in the night. I find myself much more energetic and creative in the night. Night is my day, truly, and I love it. Regards, AJ-Rox

That's an interesting way to put it. I don't think it is quite this simplified. I prefer staying up till about four in the morning and then sleeping till about noon. That isn't to say I don't enjoy sunshine, I just sleep better in that situation. Of course, life doesn't make it easy to live like that. I also have a morning person for a son. He gets up at 7:30 am every day, whether I want to or not. Which means I have to get up then too! (He's 2 1/2). So, we live life on a first shift schedule getting up in the morning and going to bed at a decent hour. My husband also has to be to work at 6am, so there is no way we can move to a different schedule.

I was a night person when I was still working in a call center. Now that I am just at home taking care of my baby, I am an all day person. What I mean is I am awake when my baby is awake and sleeping when he is sleeping. My husband is working at night so most of the time I chat with him to check if everything is okay. I prefer to be a night person when it comes to having a job because the pay is higher. But I prefer to be a day person during weekends where I and my husband goes on shopping or just eat outside.

I prefer the night. I can do either, but my personal time clock works best at night. I don't sleep well at night, worrying about burglars and such. If I'm awake at night, I can deal with it. I sleep better in daylight cause there are fewer burglaries when too many people can see them. At least that's my excuse. I have always gotten nauseous getting up in the morning. Pregnant or not, mornings do not go down well! If I'm up all night, then wake up when I want (which is usually far fewer hours of sleep than when I work days) I feel energized. I really dislike the nausea!

i am both a day person and night person. This is just simply may be because I cant stand myself to stay at home, since I am living alone. So home is just a place for me to sleep, other than that I will spend the day or night out until I am drained and need a good rest. But actually I prefer day time better as at night, there is less activity that i can do.

I am really a night person. I have always hated morning and always feel blah!! Don't get me wrong. I LIke the sunlight. Ia m just a late starter and do not like the mornings. Now give me afternoons and I am wide awake and feeling refreshed.

Well, I have made a shift during my life. I used to be a musician and used to really come alive at night time, but then I retrained in a new career as a counsellor and stopped working at nights, often coming home at dawn. I now get to bed at around 11 or just after, and get up most days between 5:30 and 6. I love the quiet of the very early mornings.. - Derek

Morning, inkyuboz. I think that I am a morning person because I can do more things in the morning and I feel more energetic in the morning. I am very ineffective in the afternoon when I feel so tried and sleepy. But when evening comes, my energy comes back to me and I can work till eleven or twelve. So my worst part of the day is afternoon time. Take care, friend.

Your question is really interesting. I don´t know if you learnt what the morningness-eveningness is. This is biopsichosocial variable that speaks about morning people versus evening people. On one hand, morning people prefer to get up early in the morning and do things they enjoy during the morning. On the other hand, evening people prefer to go to the bed very late in the night and do things they enjoy in the dark hours of the day. In the middle there are a lot of undefined people whose preference for the day or the night is not vey clear. On the basis of several tests I can say that I tend to eveningness. I love the night, I always did it. I think that a short walk through the neighborhood at night could be the beginning of an incredible adventure. Ok, I know this is a very idealistic way of thinking but it´s what I feel. Darkness makes us equal.

I am totally a day person..or actually a morning person. That is when I'm at my best. The later it gets the worse it gets. It doesn't matter if I go to bed at three or four in the morning...I will still feel good at seven just even worse by three and eight and eleven. And if I get plenty of sleep all night long I will still be tired around twelve or so.
