This was an e-mail sent from a friend: On water: Did you know that,
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated?
In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger?
Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabloism as 3%?
One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study?
Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue?
Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers?
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page?
Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79% and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink everyday?
On coke:
In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
You can put a T-bone in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
To clean a toilet: Pour a can of coca-cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in coke removes stains from vitreous china.
To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled up piece of Reynolds wrap aluminum foil dipped in coca-cola.
to clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of coca-cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in coca-cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of coca-cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent and run through a regular cycle. The coca-cola will help loosen grease stains. It will aslo clean road haze from your windshield.
For your information:
The active ingredient in coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
To carry coca-cola syrup, the concentrate, the commercial trucks must use a Hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
the distributors of coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would you like a glass of water? or coke?

Lol, I know. My Mom likes to remind me that coke used to be used to remove the rust off of cars and their engines "back in the day". I know it's bad for me, but it's one of my few vices...and not one I can afford to have most of the time. Once a month, MAYBE, one can. I'll buy offbrands (which I've checked the ingredients in, it's much healthier) usually, before real coke, because it's cheaper.
I do drink water. Did you know that some water can be digested through your food and that for those who're not dehydrated, many of them are drinking TOO MUCH water?
I also drink juice (100% if I have to buy it, the rest is from real fruit), and milk. I don't drink anything else, really.
I mostly have a dehydration problem on occasion, because I can forget to eat and drink very easily...I tend to to get caught up in what I'm doing (and I'm always busy), so I often need reminding.

Innards is a real word!
Considering everything, I don't blame ya much. xD
Since I'm young and my bones aren't quite settled into what they'll hopefully be like the rest of my life (Late teens, ALMOST an adult), I reckon I'll be okay for awhile. Our innards are usually stronger than we give 'em credit for, if we're otherwise in good shape. The worse shape you are though, yeah, I definitely have to discourage people of drinking it (or any other mainstream soda, really, if only 'cause the sugar in it'll undermine a person's immune system).

It is interesting! Thanks for sharing! I don't drink soda that much because of the amount of the sugar in soda and it is addicting to me. I have been trying to drink just tea instaed at the dinner.

Black tea does have the same amount of caffeine as Coke. It is a much better choice though because you can control the sugar. I always put splenda in my tea, or a little bit of honey. Also tea does not have the acid that Coke does and it has antioxidants!

Hi my friend, great discussion! I must admit that I should be drinking more water also, I usually will drink a lot of it when I am too thirsty. I am not a coke drinker, I drink diet pepsi but pepsi may be doing the same thing.

Interesting. Though I try not to drink Coke or any soda much anyway since I easily get gastritis and, when it gets bad enough, heart burns.

Hi Nekonyanta,
thank you for your response. Good for you! I'm gonna try my hardest to keep away from it...tonight I am doing an experiment...I will pour some coke on a nail and leave it there for 4 days...let's see if it's true! I'll post my findings!

I don't know if you mentioned this, but Coke also cleans COINS (particularly pennies) pretty well. All you have to do is let them soak in Coke until they look cleaner. Now, THAT'S scary, considering we're ingesting what can also be used as a horribly acidic household product. Of course, there must be some weird chemical in our brains that tell us to go for the sugary drink instead of water. But scary, nonetheless! (As I'm reading this..I'm drinking a diet coke, not water, lol). Yikes.

interesting. thanks! i dont drink a lot of soda not because of that, but because of the amount of sugar in it. even diet coke is not that great for you because of the sugar.
also, my inlaws bought us a case of water a couple of weeks ago and i read the ingredients (i always, always do - on everything!) and was shocked to see that the company had added salt to the water!

This is such an awesome collection of facts about two of my favorite drinks. I do drink a lot of water but honestly I probably drink more coke. I drink chocolate milk for breakfast every day. Why does stuff that's so bad for you taste so good?? Like chocolate cake? or Jack Daniel's? Tee-hee!! Good topic! 2 points for you!!

I think I was watching Oprah one day when one of her fitness guys said, if you ever feel even the slightest bit thirsty, you are already dehydrated. He said that we should be constantly drinking water. I am very bad on this habit and to be honest, i am almost always a little bit thirsty. Some of the statistics you quoted were very interesting though and makes me want to go drink some water and see if I start feeling better in general.

I always drink water especially when I worked out. Everyday, we release water from our body especially when it is hot so, we should also replace it with water to avoid dehydration. I'm not really a soda drinker. Hehehe..But, thank you for the informations. Happy MyLotting!

Thats some info. there. Thanks for letting us know.
Good thing i stopped my daily soda intake. Before i usually drink at least 1 can of soda everyday. But now, i've changed. I learn to replace the can of soda to a glass of juice (natural). I dont want my internals get damaged (.
