Yes, currently Helium is not working for Indian. Get a blog started and republish your post on Bukisa and Associated Content. These two sites allowed republication. Since, you can hope only for performance payment at AC so why should there be only original articles.
I think you should also check at various freelance sites as suggested by a friend above. Check whether something is available for you or not.
And then, I don't see any reason for your disappointment at Triond. I write only for this site and I am earning good money at least according to my capability. They provide unique experience of getting published, you must have seen there. However, they also required a bit activism. And always keep promoting your articles with not losing a chance of providing valid links. It does not require much time but provides rich dividend.

Try out constant content. They are very strict about spelling and grammar errors. You can try developing content for websites and earn money. By the way, what happened to you at Triond? It is a good site that pays regularly.

I don't think Associated Content cares where you're from, provided you have PayPal, so that would work. Alternatively, have a look at the freelancing sites like getafreelancer, odesk, elance and guru. You might be able to pick up some work there. The other alternative is blogging, which is very low-income for the first six months or so while you build up readership and reputation.
