Do you have a birthday cake? If you do have cake for your birthday what is your favorite kind? If you don't why? I know that around here having a birthday cake is the tradition, but I'm not a huge fan of cake, so sometimes instead I'll have brownies or a giant cookie for my birthday. When I do have cake I think my favorite is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. My mom's aunt makes it so good and my mom got the recipe from her and makes it sometimes.

Yummy. One of my sister-in-laws did cupcakes and make your own sundaes for one of her kids' birthdays and it went over so well, that now she pretty much does it for all of them. Everyone loves it.

hi kel1483, my dear friend, i know these birthday cakes are really a tradition now a days. in our mom and pops days we use to hear as told by them, obviously, they never use to cut cakes and all that stuff on there birthdays. rather they use to enjoy being together as a big family and go out for a dinner or lunch like something, if i remember it correctly. bit now a days thiscake is a fad. everyone wanna have it, gift it, take it, cakes and cakes and cakes. i lovecake so love to eat them and bake the too. yes if someboidy gifts me i take it also , lol, :-) i love them. i never had bought a birthday cake for my own self, ever, i dont remember. but i have bouht for everyone at my place, be it my pops, my mom, my sis, and after marriage my hubby , my in laws and now my baby, everyone. but i dont buy for me. after pregnancy , i have stopped eating also, my baby is of one and from two years when she was in womb, i have stopped eating cakes and pastries. i have gained weight . this year one of my friend sent a cake with a big bouquet of roses and a birthday card. i didnt bought and i requested my hbby also not to buy anything for me.

My mom always had birthday cake, so she kind of passed that to us and makes us cakes for our birthdays. I have never bought myself a cake either.

My family tends to still get cakes for everyone on their birthdays (unless they're like me and aren't a big fan of cake) even though we're all grown. It's just what we do. I hope you get your strawberry cheesequake cake from Dairy Queen. It sounds good.

The only way I get a birthday cake is if I make my own, of course I'm 30, so people probably assume I've grown out of it. Sometimes, I'll get myself an ice cream cake, but usually not for my birthday.

My mom's birthday is the same day as mine, so when I was growing up she always had to make a cake for me on her birthday haha, so even though it wasn't for herself, she always got stuck making a cake on her own birthday. Mmmmm....ice cream cakes are so good.

I used to have cakes for my birthday. Every birthday we always have my favorite chocolate cake. Now that I'm older we just go out and celebrate my birthday in restaurants.

A cake is a must have for me. It's kinda a tradition. On my recent birthday, my friends bought me a cake as a present, with candle-blowing and all.

Last birthday I did not have a cake and never get to have a birthday party. Two years ago same thing LOL. A few years back I had a cake but not the one with the trimmings just a simple chocolate cake. I don't believe that when one grows older birthday cakes are not important or otherwise but the celebrant really is thrilled and thankful when a birthday cake is made and most of all when it's free LOL. My birthday is coming and I wish for a birthday cake with all the trimmings and candles. Cookie monster would be nice.
