I signed up aboiut a month ago, but I haven't used it and I honestly haven't a clue what it is. From what little I've heard, it's a cross between social networking with the capability of simple networking. I believe it can send messages and blogs directly to you iPhone and other devices.

Twitter is a website where you post whatever you're doing at any moment to the site in less than 140 letters. It is, in a way, similar to facebook or myspace but it is a lot more limited than those two. I personally don't use it, but some people have gotten just as wrapped up in it as they have with facebook. No, I'm pretty sure you can't decorate your page on twitter.
I haven't ever heard of any of the other sites you mentioned.

Well , i think people who posted before me covered everything :p
But to me , it's more like something i can use to express random thoughts and feelings throughout the day , while at the University or wherever i might be. It has this feature where you can send text messages and update your "profile" instantly and it's a nice thing to use when i have no one to talk to about my random thoughts.
So basically , it's just for writing how you spend your day and let people who know you stay informed. Or to just keep blabbing about anything you want. With a limitation of 140 words per message of course :p

I can see how that would be good for some people.. Lord knows I like to talk.. I dont have enternet access on my phone though so that wouldnt really be anything great for me.. If I have a bad day, I just come on here and tell everyone here about it and express all that here...And i get paid for it haha makes it so much better!;)
Thanks so much for your post.. glad you found somthing that works well for you... Have a great night:)

I signed up for Twitter awhile back but didn't do anything with it as I was kind of like you. I really didn't know much about it and didn't know how it could benefit me. But recently I read an article about it and started using it. You can use it from a cellphone or on the computer. The main thing I like about it is that you can get updates about certain things faster than e-mail. For example, where I live we had some bad weather a couple of weeks ago. One of the local stations kept updating the weather conditions on Twitter, so I was able to follow what was happening with the weather a lot easier than I would have been able to through e-mail.

Twitter isn't a social networking site like Facebook or MySpace. You can decorate your pages there, but it is ultimately called a microblog. You are entering blog (web log) entries that are really short. In fact, you complete posts must be 140 characters long or less. This answer is a lot longer then that! Hope that helps some. It can be rather fun and following those that have interests similar to yours can be fun.

I just joined Twitter not long ago. At first I was a bit confused as to how to use the site. Mostly this was because, like you, I was expecting it to be something like myspace.
In my opinion it is nothing like myspace. I guess it depends on how you use it.
For me, I use twitter to keep up with blogs and articles. It is much more convenient that if I were to visit everyone's blogs and search for articles one by one.
If you follow the right people, it can be very useful.

I love twitter. It is a great and fast way to keep in touch with people. I am out and about a lot, and it's hard for people to keep up with me, so I love how you can send a txt message to update. It's pretty much like a status message on Facebook. I also like how people can follow you, but you don't have to follow them. You can set your profile to private, or let anyone follow you.

I think twitter is a bit different than mysapce. Myspace is a social network site and Twitter is a kind of site where yoc and informe people about your dailytime schedule. I felt twitter is a very fast way of your friend know what you are going to do and when you are going to do, as simple as that. And Myspace and orkut is simply your social network.

Um I just joined twitter about a week ago now, and twitter is basically a site that people use to keep in touch with family and friends, by just posting there daily activities and thoughts, its like a message bored that a lot of people use, I was wondering the same thing before I joined.

Basically Twitter is microblogging. You write about what is going on with you right now. If you want to let people know you will be late then you Twitter about it. Most people Twitter about stuff you don't even want to know. Often my friends write, "Dude, I just dropped deuce. Come look at it." I hate friggin hate Twitter. I think it became popular with that people have iPhone or people that text a lot.

Meh, it's basically just a site using the same concept as the facebook status. They seem to have expanded on the idea, however, allowing you to 'follow' other users and allowing others users to 'follow' you. They can view your updates and vice versa. Although you can't edit your profile as advanced as myspace, you can edit the background image/colours etc. The reason why it's so popular is because a lot of celebrities use it as it doesn't show any personal information (i.e. whereabouts, preferences etc). Although I think it's rather pointless, I do still use it.. along with myspace and facebook.
