I can't wait for this week to end.

I started this week with a decision to fire one of my co-workers, and I still have that sick feeling in my stomach. After work yesterday I had a meeting with my business partners(side venture), and according to our books we are losing a lot of money, so we decided to shut operations down ASAP and submit a notice to the building administration of our intent to close. Then early this morning, I was informed by one of my partners that the building administration responded to our letter with another letter informing us that if we close shop, we still would need to pay rent for the entire duration of our contract, which is another 2 and a half years. My April fools day ain't quite over yet, it just keeps getting worse and the jokes on me. Around 3pm, a bank employee informed me that the post dated check I deposited to my account the other day, which was issued by an individual who owes a sum of money to our business bounced. I tried calling the individual who issued the check and I could not get a hold of him, it appears his mobile is either disconnected or turned off. Then right after work a person who we owe a sum of money called me and demanded I hand over the payment, which was supposed to come from the check which unfortunately bounced and I have no idea how to fix. Tomorrow is just Thursday, man I wonder what I'll encounter next. Any advice mylotters? Have you ever had a string of bad luck lasting a week or longer? How did you get through it? Trust me, I would love to hear your stories.

Just take it one day at a time my friend. That's all we can do. Maybe tomorrow will be better. At least maybe you'll get a hold of the guy that bounced the check and can ease two of your problems. As far as the business venture closing..I don't know what to say about that. Maybe you and your partner could look into some other options if you have to rent the building for another two and a half years. As far as bad luck..well..that's my middle name..lol..but I always try to look on the bright side and keep my chin up.

Hi there Jen. I'm still trying to get a hold of him, and I'm starting to call people who are close to him, but so far I have yet to receive infos of his whereabouts. I have given up on my business venture, but we are still negotiating the unfair terms of the administrator, hopefully something good will come out of it. You are right, I have to start looking at the bright side, it's still a long day, something good might pop out. Thanks for the pep talk, I appreciate it a lot

Hi there celebratelife. You are right, I just need to find the positives from this dilemma I'm currently facing. I'm guessing with a name like yours, you probably are a cheerful person. Keep it up, and thanks for responding.

I think you just have to remember that so much worse could happen. At least you're healthy. Sure, you have to pay the rent for your office, but maybe someone else could use it (a friend or family?) and pay you the rent that you would be paying the company. I know that's not idea (don't know how legal it is either come to think of it) but it's something for you to consider. I don't know what to say about the check. Did the person who owes the money sign a contract/form to that effect? If so, you could take legal action so don't worry about that either. Keep trying to get hold of him, and if you can't get hold of him within a couple of days use your solicitor. It's horrible when everything seems to go wrong isn't it :( But it will all be okay soon. There are just these couple of problems at the moment, but they will sort themselves out sooner or later.

Thanks GemmaR. I'm trying to resolve one conflict at a time, and we really need to pay off the debt we owe to this man. Regarding the bounced check, we could take legal actions, then again paying for the lawyer and other miscellaneous fees might make the sum of money we are after rather useless. Yeah it's not the worse case ever, and definitely is nothing compared to living in a refugee camp, but it is difficult thinking of a solution everytime. I just hope everything does gets better soon. Cheers!

I had a week like that 3 weeks ago. Everthing went from bad to worst. My boss had court on monday 3 weeks ago and he was gone over that weekend and didn't come into the office (eventhough he said when he got back into town on that sunday he was going to come in to prepare for court) he called me right when I go in and I hadn't gone in his office yet to see if he had been here. He asked me did he get any messages. I told him no cause I was thinking he was thinking about that day, not over the weekend. Anyway, there was a document that i put on his chair that he needed for court that he didnt get, so I called him to tell him but he had already put his phone on silent. So he was really angry when he got back to the office. Then the next day my other boss was wanting a billing statement for a client but the program we use was having problems. I couldn't get what she wanted done and she complained to my real boss and he got extemely upset with me again. Then the next day my boss wanted me to confirm a appointment he made with a client, so I did. The client came to the office at 5:30 but my boss meant to tell me he wanted to change the appointment time to 6:30. He swore he told me but he didn't tell me to change the time he asked me to confirm. He got mad at me cause I forwarded the email he sent me with the instructions to just confirm the meeting and no where did it mention for me to change the appointment time to my other boss(who happens to be his wife). I was trying to clear my name as show that I only did what I was asked but he still was angry. It was one of the worst weeks I have ever had a work. The only advise I have is just try to stay calm and positive, although it is very hard to do that. Just explain to the person your company owes money too what happend. You cant help that someones check bounced.

Hi there renemouche. Strings of unfortunate things do happen in real life, I just wish it's just a hollywood script and I just delete unwanted scenes whenever I want to. The reality is, some of this events are just wayyyy beyond our control, and if I could just talk to my life's scriptwriter, I'd tell him "Hey cut me slack here"! Thanks for sharing, I'll try to talk to that person we owe money to early tomorrow, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers!

I can't wait till this week is over too. Sounds like yours was very busy. Mine seems to be always busy and I seem to always be tired. I understand where you are coming from. It seems like when one bad thing happens more seems to follow. I believe in that saying "when it rains it pours". There was a time I thought I was just ill-faited because bad things kept happening. I just had faith it would get better. I am looking forward to the weekend so I can stay up later and maybe sleep in some. I can get some wonderful rest and spend time with my family. I can also get some chores done on the weekend too. I hope your weekend is a lot better then your week;-) Cheers!

I also have the same bad luck this week. My prospect client for closing a sale didn't push through last Monday and then When I got home I had a misunderstanding with my husband, we slept unreconciled. The expected sales on Tuesday was cancel. My presentation this morning has been a mess...my laptop was attacked by a virus. I have to do the presentation manually. I hated to see whats going to happen tomorrow & the following day. Life this week has been very exhausting. I also wish that this week will end. Thank you for opening this discussion at least I can somehow express by desperation for the week. happy posting!

Hey there larish. I actually didn't plan on doing it here, but then again I felt it's better to let others know of my unfortunate week, and see if they have something similar happen to their lives before. I can't say I'm glad you're suffering with me, but hey misery loves company. We still have tomorrow and Friday, it probably will be the loooooongest 48 hours of my life. Here's hoping things starts to brighten up tomorrow for us both, cheers!
