Is it true that when sun, earth and moon are in a line.....

then our weight decreases by 2.5 to 7.5 kg!
Actually today when I was traveling at about 6:30 pm I heard on radio that at 7:25 the sun, the earth and the moon will be in a single line and we will weigh less, less by 2.5 to 7.5 kg.
But as I couldn't reach my destination till that time I wasn't able to check it by myself.
DO you know something about it?
and if it actually happens what will you think a baby having weigh less then .5 kg will weigh?
and what about other things, do they weigh low too?
(all times in Indian Standard time)

Well, that would make alot of people who are trying ot lose weight happy as a lark..lol But with babies I feel that they would probably know about this and just not weight them on these days. You will still weigh the same it is just less gravitation pull maybe, so it appears you weigh less.

So it is actually like that.
Indeed if it is like that, it has to be something with the gravitation and not the mass.

I am no science whiz so I am not sure, but is what I think anyhow,so if I am wrong I would like to know so I can correct my way of thinking with actual facts. Would also like a link to check it out also.

Hi dear!!!
Well I never knew such a thing...
And if it is like this then, what I feel is, this must be the average weight loss, for people of middle age...
I think in that case everybody will loose some weigh in proportion to theirs...
and not strictly 2.5 kg or 7.5 that must depend on their weigh...

no idea friend, but the thing u wrote is interesting, maybe the weight reduces proportional to their wieghts like there may be difference in some fractions, if you come to know some interesting realities about this plz let me know, i will also keep track of this discussion of yours to see what other people here know about it.

Your weight does decrease....your mass is always the same so if you have a 'mass' of 75 Kgs, you'll still be 75 kgs but your weight or earth's pull towards you will decrease(beacause it is countered by the sun's and moon's gravitational pull on you) thereby making you feel lighter by a few kilos and the decrease in weight is proportional to your original weight(actually your new weight will be (g-k-j)M/g , where g is acceleration due to gravity due to earth k and j due to sun and moon.
So if a baby's weight is 0.5 kgs, he will weigh approximately 0.44 kgs, instead of weighing nothing as you might have beleived. For anything else, multiply the weight by 0.07-0.09 to get the weight range.

I think it is definitely true. And it is because of the gravitational force that the moon have. And since we are atracted to it, then definitely our weight will be affected.

Hi.
If you do search for it and found something interesting...please share it with us here.
Thanks for your response.

If it does happen, it is because of the gravitational pulls of the three heavily bodies.

Wouldn't that be just so wonderful! The whole trouble is if our weight decreased when the sun, earth, and moon were in alignment, is that some of us would take advantage of that and go to the Fast food place, and stock up on junk food, and all the stuff we are not supposed to have.
So I sort of wish that would not happen.

Hi cool, being honest I really couldn't tell you if that is right or not it would be nice to think so though!! It would be nice to know if anyone else knows anything about it on here...littleowl

I am the first one to know about it. Well, it can be true, we don't know how Gravitional forces work in universe but 2.5-7.5 is way too much to believe. It that would have been like 250gm then it would have be believable but that is too huge.
Which date you are talking about ?

heh - we all know now who don't read the other responses before posting
Still, since the moon guides the tides of the oceans, there is some kind of force, though, maybe even with the sun in tow, but with our individual mass, it is probably in the measurement of less than a milligram. Any physics majors here?

Wow,this was really interesting to read and kind of cool. I honestly haven't heard about this or seen anything on the news about it. I would be very interested to find out if that was really true. Anything that would make it possible for me to lose a few pounds without having to diet is totally cool to me, LOL. I never really understood all that stuff about how things are affected when planets align and things like that astrology stuff. I'll have to keep my eye on this discussion the next few days to see what kind of answers come up about this, because it's really interesting.

Hi.
Most of the people here thinks that I or the Radio Jockey was playing pranks...
but I hope you will let us know if you come across something about it...
and there may be a hint in the gravitational phenomenon about all this.
Thanks for your response.

wow is this true? I've never heard of such a thing... and I don't think the radio stations here mentioned anything about the moon earth and sun being in a line and all the weight issues.... some scientist should really look in to this. they can discover new laws of gravity... this is very interesting.

I think that it is someone's idea of a cool Aril Fool's joke; it doesn't make a great deal of sense to me!

ha ha then that will be the best time to shop. I will buy 10kg of rick and only pay for 2.5kg. Well I dont felt anything like in my whole life. After listning to radio have you checked the information on Internet. I think it is not true?
