MY 9 year old daughter was born weighing 6 pounds 1 ounce and put on weight really fast, she was very tubby until the age of about 3. she weighed nearly 3 stones then. a teacher commented on her weight today which has got me a little worried, she bacically asked me if my daughter had lost weight. since age 3 she has always been skinny, her baby weight dropped off her and there was no cut backs with her eating. in fact if anything my daughter probably eats too much lol. she isnt a fussy eater and will eat almost anything, loves fruits and most veggies, has far too many sweets and rubbish, like most kids i suppose. she finishes every meal i give her and sometimes even has seconds. she isnt a sickly girl just gets the usual cold every now and then, other then that she does not complain often of any tummy aches and her bowels seem normal. she is quite active i guess and always running around, and at school too. im not sure of her height but uk size 7-8 years clothes have recently become too short for her so she is now in soze 8-9 years though its very big for her around the waist. my other daughter is 5 in 2 weeks time and is the opposite, although she does not look too big now, she was 2 stone at the age of 1 but then started to slim down at the age of 2. she now weighs just under 3 and a half stone. her dad is 6 ft 4 so im guessign she will grow into her weight anyway. my 9 year old is just a few pounds heavier then her but 4 years older and possibly eats more and their activity levels are more enough the same, though the 5 yr old is a little more active id say. i have booked a doctors appointment for monday to get her height and weight checked out but i was just wondering whats everyones views on this and also id appreciate if you could tell me how much your nine year old daughter weighs, or did weigh at that age, my daughter just turned 9 last month. also does anyone know what the average weight is for 9 year old?could it be something like worms tht has stopped her putting on weight?

If she is eating well, is healthy and the fact that her clothes are suddenly getting small for her, sounds like she's having another growing spurt. That would make her look thiner even tho she's healthy. I've known girls who get their full growth by 11 or 12, I did my final 2 inches just after my 12th birthday and grew that in just under 2 months. I went from under 4 feet to just a faction over 5 in 3 years

the clothes getting too small isnt sudden, she has only just been able to fit into size 7-8 years without having to wear a belt. i think im most concerned with her always being hungry, eating loads and not seeming to have put any weight on in 5 or 6 years. i have the nurse seeing her later so that should put my mind at ease, but for a teacher to ask has she lost weight and to comment on her not looking like she has put on any, has got me a little worried. i have always joked tht she may have worms, maybe she has, do you know much about worms?

no, not much about worms, we don't have a BIG problem with worms in the states - tho the cats get them. I'm not a parent, if I were worried, I'd take her to the doctor, but I know with your nationalized health care, it can be hard to get them to take her

I feel this is a hard question to answer. Every child is different bulit. Like for example my oldest is on the chunky side and tall but my youngest is slimer but not too skinny and short. I feel a 9 year old should weigh anywhere between like 50- 100lbs. I know a 100lbs is a lot but I weighed that much than. I am big boned and yes I got made fun of for it just like someone to skinny will too. I guess if she weighs less than 40 lbs I would be a little concerned but like I said everyone is different. I saw the picture and she looks fine to me. If she is a good eater than I would not worry too much about it. At some point she will grow into her body and than you wont worry. Take care and happy mylotting to you.
