Anybody has a good remedy to be free from this ever increasing population of mosquitoes? Don't laugh at this question. It is really becoming tough nowadays. I think it is due to the improper maintainance of the sanitation. It will wait for the sun to set and immediately gets inside the house from nowhere. What to do you think the reason for this?

Anywhere there is standing water, there are going to be mosquitoes. Since I live in south central Florida where we have a lot of canals...including one in my back yard...getting rid of standing water is difficult. Fortunately, I believe the fish and turtles eat the mosquito larvae. So, get rid of any standing water near your home so they don't have a place to repopulate. We have swarms of mosquitoes down here and I don't like using chemicals on the grandkids so I've been using Skin So Soft lotion by Avon on them which works well. I'm also going to try the basil idea that has already been posted.

Very simple, keep your surroundings clean and tidy..Use mosquito repellants..keep killing them by your hand..killing rate should not be less than 100per minute...and if you are still being disturbed by this creature then...if possible go to Paris..that is what I have heard..

I had a discussion on rain barrels and the subject of mosquitoes came up and someone posted a link to a web video that was very informative. If you don't mind sorting through the pages of discussions to find it the video may be helpful. Also, sweet basil is really effective as a natural mosquito repellent. I tried rubbing the leaves on my skin last summer and it worked great and I didn't have to have sticky chemical all over my legs and arms.
