Investing in mid-cap and small-cap shares

Hi, As the market is at its low, I am thinking in investing in stock market. I am looking at small cap and mid cap stocks as they are they are the high returning stocks. No doubt that they are risky as well but even large cap stocks broken down to 60-90% in this poor economic situation. I am interested in the opinion of other masters in this field.
