What are friends for?

This month I had some troubles with some friends of mine, and my only problem is that i am the only one that's considered to be guilty for what is happening(i hate these moments). The thing is that my group of friends split in two, and i am the guy that has to choose , and this is very hard to do,the thing is that i don't care about what they did, both groups did bad things. Can some one tell me how can i choose my friends? I'll give more details if some one is interested.

You cannot pick your mom or dad or brother or sister but you can pick a friend .Being friendly everybody is good but picking up your best buddy is tough thing.No one can help you judge than you and your heart.

yeah , i know the thing about using the heart to choose a bff , but this is different, it's a group of friends, not just one friend. In this case, although i am just neutral, i have to choose, now or never, or else i'll end up alone, and i don't want that, they all have been good to me, and the purpose of their argue does not influence me directly, so i really don't know what to do.
