I've just started college and i've just come to terms on how much pressure is placed upon us students. First of all, the major impact we have on our lives, is education. Without education, we will have no qualifications - essential for future careers. Although it is extremely important, teachers, parents and other adults seem to give us the impression that without putting all our focus on our education, we won't be successful in life. For example, during high school (between the ages of 12 and 16), we had exams and coursework throughout, often distracting us from social interaction in and outside of college.
Growing up, teenagers often worry about relationships - friendships, family and relationships as a boyfriend or girlfriend. When puberty kicks in, you are bound to decipher what is right and what is wrong and what to do or not to do. Peer pressure also adds to this as no matter how much you disagree, you are always in competition with one another - who has this, who's done that etc.
Sorry for rambling, it's just something i have been thinking about recently and would like to hear your thoughts on the matter. I'm sure there are more subjects which put pressure on teenagers, I just don't have enough time to go through them all aha.

I do think that teenagers have a lot of pressure placed upon them. All throughout their school carrers that have to keep up with the academic standards and have high test scores to get into good colleges. They also have to participate in a multitude of extra curriculars to improve their resume. When college starts, there is no break to the pressure and it continues to increase as the years go on and the courses get harder. I also agree that there are other issues such as relationships, friendships and family drama that teens have to deal with while juggling everythng else. I totally agree with what you have said. Teens just have too much pressure these days.

I forgot to mention that - extra curricular activities! There's so many aspects to being a teenager, it's just becoming too much for some. I don't think some adults understand the complexity of growing up at our age.. yes, they've been through the same experience, but they seem to have forgot as they have little sympathy. Thanks for commenting, I agree 100 percent with what you've said.

Wow, sounds a lot of pressure on your head right now. We all have to go through these problems recently. I just need to hang on to it. That might be a common problem for every single teenager in this planet. We do our best to get through it.

For me, it depends on the student. If the student know the value of time and their career then they won't be that pressured. Some students say they are pressured due to problems with the family which is more common, but others is more like a rush of doing things on the day itself.
HEhehe.

I don't think there is too much pressure on the teenagers. It is a myth created by the teenagers themselves and some indulgent parent added their bit to make it sound true. The reverse is quite true. The problem is any work to be done by the teenagers is being considered as added pressure in their life.

Of course they do.
Girls who has the biggest boobs, best lookin boyfriend.
Then boys, who can get the most girls, best chest.
Theres people in my school in yr 7-9 that i saw today smoking, and surely they cant enjoy it at the age of 11-14, so they most do it out of the thought to be accepted and wanted or to have friends.

You know i think it has alot to do with the person themselves. I remember saying the same thing to us .."you guys today have a lot of pressure on you.. " and i remember laughing and saying "ya we do, its so hard" but really I didnt think so at all. Alot of people use excuses (like me:/) while other people really DO crumble under the pressure. But in all honesty if you take everything in moderation and try to DO your best not BE the best then there is no reason to be under pressure.

Alot of pressure is focused onto teenagers, especially with the GCSE's and plan of what they're going to do when they leave school..
It's going to happen though, everyone has pressure with education.
