For all those Soap Opera Fans, "Guiding Light" will go dark in September after 72 years and 16,000 episodes, CBS announced Wednesday. The last episode is set to air on September 18. Is the economy crunch hurting your shows?

I've watched on occasion while working out. My main problem with it for a long, long time is that they just have too much Reva. She overacts the character most of the time and I just can't stand her. I like some of the other characters like Marina, Natalia, Buzz and even Lizzy on occasion.

I can't believe it! I grew up on that show! I haven't watched soaps in a couple years, but there were certain characters that have been around since I was a kid and whenever I happened to turn the tv on while that show was running I could always count on seeing Riva and/or Josh. Whether they would be together or not was always a toss up!

That's so sad...I used to watch that show years ago when I was a stay at home mom! I wonder what other soaps will bite the dust next? I hope this trend doesn't spread into other areas of television...especially the shows my husband and I enjoy watching in the evening.
