I'm currently in my 3rd year and am going to graduate in a few months time.
Now i'm facing a dilemma. I do have a specific industry that i'm thinking about (advertising) but in advertising itself there are just so many departments. There is the creative department, the accounts department, the media.....
As i look through the jobs server, i realize that i'm pretty interested in all of their scope scope. So i'm wondering which should i position myself for...
So back to my question, did you ever have such a dilemma when you first started out?

I was in 4th year college when I started working and supporting myself.
I asked one of my professors if they know where I can work. The next day, another professor of mine called me into her office and she offered a full-time work for me within the university. At daytime, I work full-time... then 6pm-9pm, I go to my classes. I worked in the university for two years and it really helped me a lot.

I was good in my academics and that professor who referred me, I helped her when she was writing her book and she also compensated me after the hard work.

I'm not ashamed to admit I asked for help from my parents and their friends. Of course, I applied to some companies but of course, in our country, it helps a lot if you KNOW someone. Just to jumpstart the career. things will be easier as you go on in life...

I was 16 years old, an American in Germany. The summer job program was at the base I lived next to, and they assigned me to a janitorial position, including mowing lawns (that lawn was HUGE too!) -
I moved to Germany, and the only job available, interestingly, were only for civilians, though the work was in the base. That made absolutely no sense to me or my parents. They said I can file a grievance, but I declined.
I will stop here, since you just asked about our first job

I asked my father and he got me a job at his girlfriends work place. the interviewer like me because she thought i was pretty and would attract more customers. I hated the job though and left after one day.
