I stumbled across the following news story yesterday and wished to share it: http://www.news24.com/News24/Africa/News/0,,2-11-1447_2489402,00.html So they conduct a drug raid and not only do they find themselves a decent stash of 100 bags, but the guy behind it all is 114 years old! To use a quote from the article - "Imagine what could have happened if this drug had not been seized. Imagine the lives that would have been destroyed by this illicit drug," she said. Oh yes, there could have been thousands of centurians causing havoc in the immediate area if these drugs had of not been seized! Do you find this whole scenario as unusual as I do? This guy hasn't inadvertently discovered the Fountain of Youth and it's bubbling forth from one of the most unexpected sources possible has he??

Go grandpa! I should be so lucky to be living till 114 and still smoking ganja. I'm only 65, a long way to go, but I still grow it from time to time, for medicinal purposes, of course. I can't deal 'cause I don't know anybody where I live. Maybe when I've been here ten years and am no longer seen as a tourist just passing through, but then again, this is Conservative voting territory, I probably wouldn't find a market whoever I knew. Lash PS James, this is NOT the longevity treatment I am considering writing about in the Immortality thread lol.

It's NOT the longevity treatment? What a damn shame..... lol. It would be interesting having a Grandpa like this though. Rather than having to sit there and listen to stories about the Great Depression and World War Two, you could kick back while he crapped on about Pink Floyd and how great peanut butter is! It's been a long time since I've been around it, but I don't have any issues with it at all if it's a consenting adult that's involved and not a minor. Good luck with the ten year dealer status angle too and then let's see if you can beat this guys record of 114 years old!

And THAT Ladies and Gentleman, is all we need further from me..... (What were the odds of this happening you reckon? You didn't have Pink Floyd on in the background too did you?)

Havoc from pot? Naaaaaa. A devastating shortage of snack foods in the area though. I'm sure all the twinkies are gone! God help them.. empty shelf after empty shelf.

This is what I was thinking may be the case also. There'd be gang wars between 7-11 operators just for the rights to have their store in that street! Maybe this is how the Police nailed this guy in the first place? It wasn't a tip-off, but an undercover operation where they drove up and down the street in a Twinkies Van while doing surveillance? At least this would have drawn the old dude away from the house long enough for them to check out back?

Could be James, the cops probably dubbed it "The Twinkie Consortium". See the real crime was not the pot but all the hijacked Twinkie delivery trucks!

The plot thickens! The truth will come out, all we must do is be patient. (And a Nigerian news feed would help too I guess)

Great story! Still, I am thinking that it probably really is not his. Why in the world would he stash all that pot behind his house and not in his house? I am betting the tip came from an electric meter reader or someone putting oil in the home or maybe even someone who did work on the property. I am betting there is more to this story. Now you'll have to keep us posted on the follow-up.

There'll be more to the story for sure! I just hope thaty I'm able to actually find follow-ups because this is a new storyu from Nigeria and details are already sketchy as it is. Personally I feel this guy is probably being used as a middle man in some way because the last thing many people would think is that a 114 year old would be involved in something like this. The source of the tip-off has not been shared, but it was mote than likely a competitor dealer group or maybe even someone close to him that got caught themselves and was trying to save their own butt. If I find any more on it, I'll share it.

Go grandpa, go go go. Cannabis should not be illegal in the first place. I think that they are being mean arresting him. He was probably doing great deal with the other older people. I mean that nonsense about what might have happened. Get over it, it is probably the most harmless or one of the most harmless on the market. Instead of being illegal it should be prescribed to lots of people. Personally I think we should all be allowed to grow it for personal use.

Thanks for that info cmauthe. It doesn't surprise me at all that a new rope company would create such a stigma around a hemp rope competitor. It was arguably a very clever move on their part! I wonder if there will ever come a time when cannabis is a socially and legalluy acceptable substance? Personally I doubt it because no Government has ever seemed to be able to work out how to profit from it effectively. If they COULD, it would be a completely different ball game for sure.

PMPL I tend to think he may have been set up on this one James as they said it was behind his house - anyone could have presumably gotten to there? Mind you if not it would probably be quite a laid back house! lol xxxx

A laid back house? I think a house of complete oblviousness would be a more appropriate description! Another article I found states hat it was way more than 100 bags and was actually over a TON of pot! The old man is also apparently saying that he was under the impression that the bags contained rice. Sure Grandpa! lol. I see you're on singsnap too now! I'll be watching for one of your songs then.

Nah, you don't need any of that rice at all! It's all in fun anyways and none of us have the camera on (well most of us don't!) The first one is always the most difficult and then it gets to be so much easier. I shall always wait in hope then!
