I would not like to count really...barring the few at the top positions, most politicians are unenducated criminals who rule the land like their personal property. All this movement about cleanliness in politics and jaago re and vote for the clean...nothing will ever come out of these! most politicians are humbugs and crooks and opportunists adn they keep each other happy irrespective of the party they belong to. If indeed we are to see any change, then the very basis of our democracy has to usher in some changes in the way parties are formed and elected.

You are too pessimistic. There are not much criminals there in last parliament, less than 10%.. then we chose them..we are also responsible for that. Media is responsible for the deformed view that you seem to have. You do not know how many serious discussions have taken place in the parliament, but media will not let you forget a chance when something bad has happened. You always like to see some sop opera on television...how many times you think it OK to switch to Lok Sabha Chennel in the prime time and see some discussions. India is most matured and vibrant democracy after the US. There is no need to change at least in the way parties are formed and elected. The change is required in people like you and me....

And I think you are too optimistic! Its said that charity begins at home…in politics that would mean our own locality and the politicians who run the corporations. How many of these politicians are educated and genuinely dedicated to developing their constituencies? As I have said, politicians in the highest levels are not corrupt…I have great respect for most people who sit in the Lok Sabha…BUT down the line, it’s an abysmally poor situation. Do you think we Indians lack money to develop our poor? No, we have enough money, we don’t have any transparency or accountability for distribution of that money properly. It is mainly money, muscle and mafia power…why do you think so many people are in politics and why do we have so many parties? Everytime any major party does not want to give ticket to any criminal, he goes on to launch his own party with money and a few sycophants who are only interested in their personal gains. You talk about the US…Indian politics does not come anywhere near the US. The main difference is that they have only two parties which reduces the chances of corruption to a great deal. Also they do not have this tradition of family politics…if husband is criminal, wife stands for him, if a seat is held by the father, automatically the son/daughter gets a ticket… And then of course there is the curse of the caste system still being exploited further in the name of garnering votes. People will automatically vote for a person if he/she is from their own caste…they will not judge that candidates capability or education or dedication… what nonsense is this democracy? It is just an extension of our feudal mentality! Indian democracy is vibrant alright, it is NOT mature.

This is a democracy and so don't worry about these things. 99% of candidates are educated and have not any criminal records. I am saying about National Parties. Now, its up to you to show how much you hate criminalisation of politics. The highest number of criminals are there in BSP-who slapped a terrorist act on an Indian Citizen and herself gave tickets to terrorists like Mukhtar Ansari...Then the number is LJP, Samajwadi Party, RJD, JD U, Shiv Sena National parties like the great BJP and the grand old Congress has also given tickets to some criminals..but more than 99% of their candidates are clean...if you forget the civil cases...

Then what should be done. Do you think that we should also get a Hitler..an autocrat. Or we should adopt the governance of China where you can not say anything against the government. We are enjoying the ultimate freedom here in India. I wanted to say above that you should support only clean candidates and try to forget about the black sheep. They will be there. Kautilya's Arthashashtra also mentioned about these type of peoples...

They will continue giving the tickets to criminals till the people will continue to elect them. The problem is with people who elect such people to decide on there behalf. There is no way one can't find a single candidate in the whole list who is capable enough for the post, things are wrong with people who votes for corrupt one's sidelining the deserving one. But its not gonna be same forever, Indian politics will change for sure, and for that time is not far.
