In many of our households it is a matter of routine to buy newspapers. We have different ones, and in our place it is ' Economic Times'. I read some areas of specific interest to me , but not all.Or has the internet replaced the newspaper reading habit? Do share .

I just cannot start my day without going through the Newspaper. Even if I am in hurry in the morning, I do make it a point to look at the main headlines, city page and sport page. When I come back from my office, I finish the remaining newspaper. It not only gives me information about latest happenings but keeps me update about what is new and what is in the store. Reading newspaper gives me a kind of satisfaction, which I do not get when I watch news on TV. TV news channel sensationalize the news and you just cannot read the story like a news paper over there. I do check up news on internet sometimes, however, I find that internet websites show the news which is available in the Newspapers. Probably, there is no independent news website which gives you some independent news. On Sunday, if I'm not going anywhere I just relax with 2-3 newspapers around me and finish all by the end of the day. dpk How are you Kala?

Very true Deepak! Sometimes, the sensation made in T.V.channels gets so irritating-they are just waiting to create sensation and would scream and dramatise for even small issues .I am fine , but for the past two days I have been slightly busy.I have many comments to make. They are all pending. And what about you?You have taken a vacation in advance. It is very very hot in Mumbai this year.I shudder to think of the hot weather at your place.

I agree with you views Kala! Please take your own time to make comments, however, friends like me always eagerly awaits for your comments. I've not taken vacation in advance, I had availed of my leave, when I went on excursion trip recently. I have come to know that weather is very hot at your place, however, here in Delhi, the temperature has started to rise, however, till now, it is within limits. The month of April remains OK, because of dry hot weather and in this season 'coolers' work effectively. It becomes difficult to cope up with weather when weather turns hot and humid here.

I usually read the news headlines on MyLot and if Hubby comes across any other ones he knows I'd like to see he sends them to me as well. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I don't read the newspaper but my husband does every morning. We have it delivered 7 days a week and he sits at the table in the morning and drinks coffee as he reads. I am an avid news television watcher. I watch it several times a day to keep on top of what's happening.

I read the newspaper during working days since our office has a newspaper supply every morning. So when I report for work, I have the opportunity to read the news first thing in the morning.

Hi Kala........Till about a few years back,I always had a habit of reading the newspaper along with my bed coffee......Often I never got time to read the whole newspaper from end to end,but I alteast was always eager to quickly glance through the headlines and all the pages,to look for interesting/important news.......But I must confess in the past few years my eagerness to read the newspaper has subsided to a great extent.....This is because most of the news in the paper becomes stale news since we are able to get first hand and efficient information in the TV and Internet,at any moment...Now also I do read the newspaper as soon as I wake up,out of habit, but it always happens that most of the news has already become stale...........

Well I regularly read the Newspaper in the morning. But after coming home leaving my daughter at school and having my breakfast only.I just like to recline in my bed for 30 minutes to browse through The New Indian Express.I like this paper as it is peppy and a kind of very straight forward.

Hi Kalav, I am not reading news paper in the morning. When I got the paper in the morning I have look on the front page and keep aside and then continue with my work. Mostly paper is coming when I am busy with my son who is getting ready for school. If there is anything important news my hubby can share the same with me when he reads newspaper in morning. Sometimes I read newspaper in office or in net. But I am not a regular reader of news paper, especially in morning.

I do not have a current newspaper subscription. I used to work for a paper and was given a free subscription as a perk, but since they laid me off a couple of years ago I just haven't had the inclination or desire to pick one up, with the exception of the occasional weekly paper that focus' only on local news. I think one of the biggest reasons people aren't as likely to subscribe to a paper anymore is that our current lifestyle is to frantic to allow the downtime that is needed to really read a newspaper. People watch TV as a distraction or escape. If people want the news, they can either see it on TV in easily digestable 30 second or 2 minute chunks. Or they can go online and only find the stuff that they know they'll be interested in. No more wading through obituary listings to get to the crime log. No more dull city council stories to gloss over. You pull up what you know you'll be interested and be done in 5-10 minutes. Why the newspapers have decided that all that information should be provided free of charge on their own websites, I'll never understand. I find it incredibly funny that the administrators of the papers want more and more internet hits, then complain that circulation is dropping like a rock. ATTENTION NEWSPAPER EXECS! YOU ARE GIVING THE MILK AWAY FOR FREE, WHY WOULD THEY PAY FOR THE COW THAT CLUTTERS UP THEIR HOUSE WITH INKY PAPER?
