Lol! Yeah, I'm starting to get bored doing officeworks! It's gonna be my second year this coming April 13, but my urge to shift to another career is getting stronger. The problem is, it's really hard to find a job right now. I feel like I'm just working now because of money, which is honestly the last thing that could motivate me to do something. I wanna do things that I actually enjoy, I feel like I'm not growing here anymore. I used to enjoy this job, but not anymore. I feel trapped! HELP!!! What should I do? Where should I start? How will I start it?

only you can answer your own questions, personally you work to live not live to work, so if it was me and I didnt enjoy my job then theres no point in doing it ?? I would leave, but it depends on your financial stability and only you know if thats viable. If not then take a night class do something you have always wanted to do, and just go to work with a smile on your face and grin and bear it, changing careers is a long road but personally I would leave the job am in and have more time to myself to decide on my next career path. Good Luck.

Hmm.. I actually already went back to school for the night classes and yeah, it really helped a lot to divert my boredom. I definitely cannot leave right now if we're gonna talk about financial stability, nothing is stable here right now in US. All the companies are cutting hours and are on freeze hiring. \ But yeah, it's really a long road, and I actually just started doing this thing that I really want, it's just that I think I'm getting bored here faster than I'm making my own work. But I'm definitely willing to make this work, I'm probably just not patient enough to wait. Thanks Benny! =)

what you should do is to find a great job first before you quit, We're just the same... I myself feel bored with my current job... and what I have done? I quit just now... and I work hard with my business in order for me to earn money... I supposed to find one before quitting but I can't take it any longer.... think for it over and over... after all its your decision... ;)

Wow! Congrats! At least you were able to quit sooner. Working harder for yourself is way much better than working for someone else. So what kind of business are you doing right now? Thanks angellyril!

Just be glad that you have a job. One person in ten in the United States is on food stamps. It is just so hard to get a job right now. Hang onto your job for a while and have money coming in to buy food and to pay the rent. You might not be happy with your job, but I think that being broke, hingry and living out on the street would be a lot worse than being bored.

Yeah, I'm thankful with my job, at least I can still survive because of my paycheck. And you're right that being a bum is much worse, that's why although I really want to quit at this moment, I still can't. I need to have a Plan B before I do it. Thanks Albert! =)

I used to do office work to. It can get boring tho. When that happened to me, I talked to my boss about it. She started giving me more responsibilities. I eventually moved my way up in the company to a spot that I absolutely loved.

I kinda feel the same way, I'm feeling bored with my job right now and me, working home-based kinda add to the boredom. I feel like changing to a different career too but I just can't right now 'cause there's so many things to consider. I guess we'll just have to find a good way to entertain ourselves and explore ways that we could feel enjoyable in our work again. I was thinking of having a bit of a time off so I don't feel too exhausted, like a 1 to 2-week vacation, I think it would be great.

We're totally opposite when it comes to home-based jobs, I think that's the one that I really want right now. Cause doing it can give me more flexible time. And a day job cannot give me that privilege. So what home-based jobs are you doing right now? For how long have you been doing that?

Obviously your job right now is not the job you really wanted. That is why you get bored but it will be harder for you to quit because you might be ending up with no job. So i guess my friendly advise is that get rid of the urge as of this time because the more you tell yourself that you get bored then it will stick in your subconscious mind and then will give you that certain urge. As for this time its better you learn to love doing your job whilst looking for the job you ever wanted. When the right time comes that you find the job you like and that you already get it then that's the time you quit your recent office job. It is more important to be wise this days because its hard to have no job at all. happy mylotting!

Your right cheenlly, it's really hard to give everything to something that doesn't really interest me. But you're also right that it's hard to quit and I might end up with no job at all. I'm currently looking into those possibilities, so I'm really weighing things right now. How bout you, what do you do right now besides mylotting? Are you also working?

perfect timing! as of now, i am currently counting my days as a full-time employee of this company that i am in. almost same dilemma, i got bored. on the "used to love this" part, i hadn't really been into it. this is my second job, i am still in my twenties and i think this is the best time for me to seek and to establish full time on my passion/s. i thought i would like to wait for some time until i have a sure shot at my next employment but i didn't because i can't take it anymore! there comes a time when i can still tolerate the misery but the worse part comes up to the point where in i feel that if i sit here longer, then i would snap. i drag myself everyday to work even though i make it sure before i sleep that i would wake up early and just come to work early so that i could leave early. i used to bear with this but now it has just gotten worse and everyday it feels like an illness is coming out of my system just to pull me away from the office. but getting bored is not my main reason, actually there's a lot of things to do, to think, to much energy to put on in each thing. it's stressing me out so much that i don't like it. i am always irritated, hot-headed, bitter. i've been stressed out before with other matters but it's always good stress that i understand, but with my current work, it's not healthy any more. so i pray to God more than day and night..i pray to Him with every chance that each day gives me. i even went back to my ministry, as promised to God, (my church choir) so i could be more enlightened when sunday services weren't enough for me to discern His will. and when this dawn of realization came on me, i took the risk of filing my resignation right away even though i don't have a sure employment yet for another company. and the decision was like God-breathed that i felt so relieved after spending so many sleepless nights and thinking in between of my work tasks within the day and even on my weekends. you know life is short and you're not always young and open to opportunities that come your way. i've chosen a path where money won't be right easy and as stable and financially rewarding as the one i'm leaving but i know it would fulfill me more than anything on earth that could be bought. I poured my heart out because these are the whole things that i've not completely told anyone even one of my bestfriends so is this also another relief. im not saying that you follow what i did but consider your factors first and have very thorough deciding. i've thought for this since day 1 and i've been w/ the company for 2 years and a half, so go figure. and pray, that is the key =)

Thanks for the thoughts Lalapuff. Yeah, I usually just drag myself to wake up these days, unlike before, when my alarm rings, I can get up quickly. But right now, the alarm will take 2 or 3 rings before I am fully awake! lol! When it gets busy here, it's also stressful, but I think I like it that way cause I have something to do. That happens to me once in a while, I get irritated and not in the mood. I know I could get there, I just probably need to pray some more. =)

Hey. If you're not happy with your work anymore, or just bored. take a leave. and relax a bit. (i think that would help) Its not work or money that defines you. It's what makes you happy that defines you as a person. :p Good luck. Hope you'll find the thing that really makes you happy. BTW, Im bored as well with work. :)

Yeah, I'll probably get more vacation next week, they cut my hours. I'll be working just Monday and Thursday and my boss will let me know if I have to work the remaining days. It's kinda make me smile that I could get out of this office, but then, I'll probably get short on my budget this month! haha!

I am in this dilemma, too. And I have resigned but not accepted. After reconsidering, I am stick to the job but still find I am bored with it. So, I decide to search for the job while sticking to the current job. I know it clearly that I will leave the current job sooner or later.

Resigned but they didn't accept it? Wow! What kind of job are you into right now? How come they don't want to let you go? You're probably great with what you're doing! =)

I got made redundant end of Jan and it took me 3 months to finally get a job, even then the job I have now is only part time and not full time. I took this part time job because as you say there isn't a lot of work about at the moment. If you think you can manage financially then go and do something you have always wanted to do. If not then i would stick at the job.

Yes kiss_me, that's what I'm doing right now. I'm actually doing something that is my interest, but as of now, it's still now enough to replace my day job income. So I have no choice, but to stick with this job for a while. Thanks!

it's not just problem, i think a lot of people are in to this dilemma. simply because its hard to find a new one and start over. i usually feel this, so what i usually do is take a break, make something not like my job. have a vacation or something like that. talk out with our friends or co workers of what you feel. it will help you...

I totally agree with you camhiliciouz, probably a lot of people are experiencing the same thing. I don't have problems starting over, the hard part is finding a new one, especially in this kind of economy. Sometimes when I'm really getting bored, I usually do that, I do something else. It helps for a while, but when you're back to reality that you're still on that job, the urge of moving out of that job is greater. But yeah, having a vacation and doing something else can really help! thanks for the thoughts Camhiliciouz! =)
