I have gotten used to desktops over the years but needed to get myself a laptop for home use since I moved to an apartment that only has wireless.
I'm happy that I got it, but I have to get used to not having a mouse. That's the hardest part of having a laptop, but I'm getting used to it.
I'm actually happy that I don't have to shut this machine down like I had to with my desktop, which was fried anyways.
I got myself a used Dell Latitude D600 from eBay, a local seller too. So I picked it up the day before I moved and am pleased with it.
I've been doing quite a bit of typing, despite people saying that I shouldn't. It's fine, it's not as bad as some people are telling me it's supposed to be.
Do you like laptops or desktops?

Hey, firstly congrats on your first laptop. Personally I like laptops they are small, light weight, tidy and portable. A desktop is more messy with many things here and there . But when it comes to gaming Desktops are the best, but that does not come very often. Yes it takes a little while getting used to the touch pad, but when you do its the best, also make sure you are having the correct mouse speed, or sometimes you can end up having trouble if the speed is too slow.
Also make sure the screen brightness is correct, when it is late night lower it and in day increase this not only helps is saving energy but also your eyes.
Best of luck cares

Thanks. Everything seems ok so far, it's just difficult with the touch pad and having a smaller screen, but it's great to be able to take this wherever I want to.

Yes they are so easy to use and you can lay in bed and use them. So nice to be able to take them where you want to sit. I think the only thing is I do give it a break and try not to use it when it is charging back up again. I want to look after it so that it lasts a very long time. I love that I can do so much on it and it does feel like they are easier on the eye than desktops.

i like my desktop when i am at home, it is so much easier and more spacious for me. when i travel though i like to have my lab top. with mine i take my movies and all my music with me, on my portable hardrive. i can use every application i have on my desktop on my lab top with the portable hardrive since my back up is on there. i do not know which is really better it just depends on the circumstances. if you have the room and your home a lot i would say get a good desktop, but if you do not have the room then get a lab top. a lab top is especailly good if you have a wireless internet, then you can access the internet any where in your network instead of being in one place. and congrats for the lab top..

Grats on your first laptop :).
but,id advise you to buy a external mouse because the one on your laptop gets annoying -.-.
I currently own a laptop and a desktop. i cant really decide which i like more.
if im in the mood to watch movies and download games and such i love my desktop.
but if i want to casually browse the internet and lets say..post around on mylot,id use the laptop.
the laptops mobility probably wins it though.
youll get used to it sooner or later :D

I am thinking about getting an external mouse, but only have 2 usb ports, so will be limited if I do. I need at least one port for my card reader since I can't use my desktop anymore.
It will be a challenge for sure I know that.

I love my laptop. I've only had laptops since 2004. I like the idea of being able to take my computer with me when I want to go somewhere. When I went to Arizona for the better part of a year, i was able to take EVERYTHING with me. I wouldn ot have been able to do that with a desktop. I love my laptop!

I like desktop but its up to you which is more convenient using it and appropriate in your current situation. It really depends on the user. Both dekstop and laptop are usefull in their ways

I also got my DELL laptop not long before and then threw away the desktop i used for nearly four years. I am sure it really suit me,although i had met some problems and seen many complaints and discontent about it.
