most printer users may think that the compatible printer supplies will harm your printers ,especially when the printers are newly bought.
if we just want to save a little money to buy compatibles ,but your printer are damaged and cost a lot to fix it .so people would rather to buy original.
is that what you thinking about?
will you buy a compatible cartridges for you new printer?
or you will use them after one or two years using?

Well i guess, your printer would be damage even you use new cartridge. Sometimes this happen, because the printer have limit time for using a cartridge (minimum is 5 years for printer, and 1 years for cartridge). I try to buy a compatible cartridges but seems it's not longer effective, my printer slot not installed with correctly after i put new cartridge and change with new cartridge so many times. I never buy a compatible cartridges, and using refill for more than two years.

It is very good for me, if i use it with caution and not in a hurry in install the cartridge. I think compatible toner or ink can not be said to harm my printer if we are not careful to install the equipment. Follow the instructions of equipment which you buy, and as long as you follow the instructions then you will not damage the equipment.
