well we were asked a question yesterday on an essay asking whether we like those movies that amuse and entertain or those films that make you think. Of course i chose the films that made me think, those that really opens your senses about life, human nature or any other aspect of life in this world. One of the newer films that have that quality is slumdog millionaire..from the old ones, i think forrest gump. well that's just my example, How about you, what is the movie that made you think or learn a lot? share here and i will take it as a recommendation :-)

Atonement, because in this movie a child makes a slefish accusation out of jealousy and lives are ruined due to it, and the end is the part that hits you hard. It's all about personal accountability for our own actions on a deep level.

There are a couple of movies that made me think a lot and two of the main ones are The Holy Mountain and I'm A Cyborg, But it's Okay. I really like visually attractive movies and movies that have a deeper meaning to them. Most mainstream movies don't really have that. I did like the new movie Watchmen that came out though there are a lot of really sweet quotes from that movie and I really liked the character Rorschach.

i havent seen holy mountain or im a cyborg, but i might try to find a way to get a copy of these. are they hollywood movies? anyway, i also like the watchen, it's an intelligent film although i hated the violence and s*x scenes that were unneccessary. and i also loved rorschach's character best even if he was made to appear like a criminal in that film right? thanks jambi

I think it would have to be Titanic. I had such a hard time with that movie. I kept trying to put myself in the places of those who were in the boat. I felt so bad for months!

Bagdad Cafe made me think, being more of an "art" film here in the states any way, it gave me a lot to think about - as well as being a very enjoyable flick.

Good question. I'm gonna start by saying that i'm a movie fan, regardless the genre (i favour horrors, though). You're right, Slumdog Millionaire was a movie that made me think also, about money, love, values of life, other people in this world, their dramas or moment of happiness and much more. One of the last movies that i've seen recently, and made me think, was a thriller / drama - Shuttle, a gray movie that let me with a bitter taste for a few hours. I won't spoil the subject but is about a real problem in our days, aside fictional aspect and some bloody effects. Other titles that made me think were Eden Lake (thriller / horror), The Notebook (drama / romance), Sweet November (drama / romance), If Only (drama / romance) and few more others...

bec. of your response, im interested to watch shuttle. is it a modern film? i'll try to find a copy of it. i have also watched the notebook and sweet november, you're right those are some of the films that make you think about how well you should love your loved one. thanks september 1st

The first movie that comes to mind is Pan's Labyrinth. I watched that and was touched, but it kept me thinking. I was actually mulling it over this morning for some reason. The music also stayed with me so much that I downloaded one of the instrumental pieces on my ipod.

I forgot Gattica. It isn't so much that I liked the movie, but I felt like I was possibly looking at the world's future. A future that is scary.

[b]I watched "Rang de basanti" (From Indian) which is about some college boys who kills the defence minister because the minister is corrupt and held in many illegal activities. Lastly this boys go to a radio station and speak with the peoples and tell that they killed the defece minister. But the police peoples attack on them and killed them. After end of the movie for 2-3 days i thought alot about it and lastly i came to conclusion that the boys are right as they did a good job but felt sad because if we do good job in return we have to loose life. Hey there! I would say that the movie that really made me think, of a lot of things in life, is Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks really did make a very good acting in that movie. I love that movie. Even though I was still a young boy when that movie came out, I just watch it the other day on DVD, I believe it is one of the best movies that I've seen. Last night I watched Slumdog Millionaire and it was also a very nice movie. It also made me think. The story of Jamal Malik is awesome. It is quite a story. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

a movie that made me think a lot would have to be...eagle eye. i picked that movie because if you have seen it you might wonder if our govornment can really do that. do they really have eyes in the skies watching all of us do everything. if they can follow two people around the world then could they be watching us right now. it makes you wonder if what you are doing at the time is saft doesn't it?

When I read your question, "mindwalk" was the first movie that came to mind, perhaps as it was the first one I can recall ever watching that made me want to pause it at points to just ponder what was just discussed. That movie made me more interested in watching more philosophical tapes.

Well the movie which made me think over was 'Day after tomorrow'.the movie came in the year 2004 when the discussions about Global warming was heating up.The movie was directed by Roland Emmerich who gave just one of his best works to us.the movie was about global warming and its acute effects on earth.the cast included Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum. It depicts the catastrophic effects of both global warming and cooling .

this movie made me think too, about the catastrophes and climate changes that could occur if we dont give an effort to stop global warming. thanks for responding suveer

i think the beautiful mind and the pursuit to happyness. i like that movie a lot. it makes you think that there is still hope. these are real life stories that can touch people's heart. i have learned from that a lot. never give up...you can still make it to the top even you are so down and weary, there is still hope. i have not seen slumdog millionaire. but i hope i can watch it soon.

Two movies that I think made me think a lot were Remember the Titans and Slumdog Millionaire. Remember the Titans reminded me of how raise still influences society, even today and how important camaraderie can be for a team to succeed. This movie reminded me of my high school football team and how we were ultimately successful because of the bond that we created with each other. Slumdog Millionaire made me think of the orphans in other countries and how unfortunate they are. Both great movies and highly recommended.

Walz with Bashir...is not really a movie but a cartoon. They made the cartoon in order to protect the identity of the protagonists, as the movie is based on a true story. AS a Christian it really made me wonder.
