A couple of days ago, I read here in myLot some discussions about Ciao members whose earnings decreased for unknown reason. Today, Ciao posted a bulletin on why fluctuations of earnings happened these days. The bottom line is Ciao is cleaning the site from abusers and plagiarizers which in turn invalidated every read and rate made by the abusers.
Here's the official statement from Ciao:
Explanation of Payment Fluctuations
[i]Dear Community Members,Many of you may have noticed a slight decrease in your earnings. This adjustment is caused by one of two changes to our system. First, if we believe a review of yours needs to be deleted, we will remove it and your earnings will go down by the amount of money that review earned. Reviews not in compliance with our Terms and Conditions will be removed.
The more common reason for account fluctuations, however, has resulted from our efforts to remove abusers as quickly as possible; when we permanently deactivate a member we believe is abusing the system, their ratings and comments - as well as their profile picture and reviews - disappear. If a deactivated member rated your reviews, the money you earned from those ratings will be removed. We do this so as to prevent "clicking cartel" cheats.
We understand that this may be extremely frustrating for our honest, hard-working members, and we deeply apologize for putting you in this position. We believe, however, that cleaning up the site and ridding it of problem members will create a much better community, and will allow you to enjoy your time at Ciao.com
Please continue to send us abuse reports as we now have a better system for processing these and for taking down abusive reviews. To remain in good standing with our community team, please make sure your reviews are not plagiarized (are completely original), are in English, and are on topic. Also, do not rate reviews you have not fully read. Please read this section on writing reviews http://www.ciao.com/faq.php/Id/4/Idx/1 and this section on writing comments http://www.ciao.com/faq.php/Id/4/Idx/2 for more information.
Email us at info@ciao.com if you have any questions.
Thank you for your patience!

Thank you for this information. This is really very enlightening.
Also, I would like to add something. For those who are experiencing log-in problems, I have written a solution in my website. Those who need help you can check my blog by going to my profile page here on mylot.
I hope my suggestion will work for you as well. Don't forget to drop a comment if it did, okay. :)

It is about time they clean out the site... i am seeing less and less of those junk reviews... but i am also losing some earning... but if this is the price to pay for ciao to be a reliable and excellent site... then so be it... i will just continue on doing what i was doing eversince i became a member... and that is writing my own reviews and rating honestly...

The cheaters are losers.
So sad that thye make it a rough ride for the honest members on many sites.
Good to see tha Ciao is staying on top of them just like myLot!
p.s. I wonder how many Ciao users realise that the admins on Ciao read the discussions here on myLot and know who is cheating
