There are some products that are way too expensive. For example: Rubbershoes. Here in the Philippines a decent pair of athelic shoes from Nike or Addidas would range from 2000 pesos and above. I don't mind spending 2000 pesos on shoes. But anything higher, I takes me a long time to decide and most of the time I don't go through the purchase. It's a different matter when it comes to gadget. For me, it has to be original. Same goes with wrist watch and underwear. Hahaha. Are you brand concious?
What are your thoughts?

Well, I used to be brand conscious before.. i don't like buying/patronizing local products/Philippine made items.. but when i moved out from my parents house and had my own place in the south, i've learned how to be a wise shopper... now, i don't care whether i'm just wearing a local brand.. you know, as long as i'm comfortable with it then it's fine with me.. when it comes to imitation/fake products, i don't really buy them.. i'd rather buy something without brand.. for instance, products that can be bought at tiangge stores/greenhills, etc..

I agree to you gracie. I used to be brand conscious before but when I got older and sensitive about money matters I'm more of the comfort the clothes bring me than the brand. I love going to Greenhills to shop. For shoes I go for local brands and even non-branded. One day i would like to go to Liliw, Laguna where they sell shoes, slippers in a cheaper price but very good quality.

I usually try to get the most of my money that is why I don't usually buy fake or imitation products. More often than not, they are worthless. But I don't go for branded goods either. It would be nice and to have a branded apparel but some of them don't worth their price. Why would I buy a P 2k-3k ($40-60) worth of slippers that are just as sturdy as a P50 (less than $1) one? So is buying original DVDs. Sorry but I don't think it's worth spending $10-20 while you can buy a 4 pirated DVDs for less than $3. The original copies can malfunction as well and I really don't have a need of the copy once I saw the movie once or thrice at the most.

I partially agree with you on the DVD part. But there are still some movies that I don't mind buying the original DVD. Especially when they are rare. Great point with the slipper. I wouldn't spend my money on a original Havaianas. They look so simple and there are a lot of fake out there. Thanks for the response

Hi good day to you my co-mylotter. Yes,you are right that here in our country in the Philippines most of the original products, good and gadget are really expensive such as a Nike or Adidas shoes were, sometimes it cost about 2000 pesos, which is too expensive for a standard people like me. In my own life experienced, i never had tried buying a too expensive goods, even though the design of the goods is very beautiful to the eyes of many people. And i think even though, i will have a good amount of money. I will never buy a over price good because i know to my self that, i'm wise and i am a practical people. If i will not buy that kind of goods, i can be able to buy some important goods that i need in order to be survived with everyday life.
So with my statement, i can say that i'm prepared to buy some fake products or imitation, but not all the time. I just buy some imitation products like only for my clothes or what i mean is for making my own fashion in dressing, but in some gadget, i prepare to buy those original class because the durability of those gadget when original is very strong and superior, not just like those fake product were the durability is so poor. Imitation gadget, which to be operated by electricity, it my cause a accident to the owner due to not well made. Sometimes with this kind of gadget it may cause fire that may burns houses and buildings, especially with those poor people house. The reason why sometimes poor people buy some imitation and fake products is because they want to avoid buying a high amount of goodies, but the bad thing is they didn't know that when buying it, it may causes for the to spend money due to accident they will encounter. Well, that's all my response in your forum topic discussion entitled "do you like purchasing fake or imitation products". Thank you, happy posting and happy earning here in this site mylot. Good luck and Godbless us always. =)

It has never been my attitude to purchase imitation products. Maybe its just because of the fact that I don't have money just to waste for something that I may feel sorry later. Like for example, mobile phones. We do have alot of imitation phones in the market today. But, I am really hesitant enough to go with the craze nowadays for fear that I may be broken in just a matter of days! And I don't want to blame myself for buying an imitation phone. What I am currenly doing nowadays is just to save money in order for myself to buy the phone that I am longing for. And I have to wait for it. I don't have to immediately planning buying it. So that I will not be tempted in buying in the sidewalks, which I may regret later....

I do agree with you. Buying fake products especially gadgets is not advisable. I personally don't know how to determine whether a cellphone is original or fake. So instead of purchasing phone in any store, I purchase phones from Telecom company just to be safe. I also use to buy fake DVDs. But most of the time, they are easily worn out. Thanks for the response.
