i gave them chores according to their age. of course, as a parent, we don't want our children to be pressured. for a 5 year old child, moping the floor is already a hard task. i don't want my children think that they are being mistreated for giving them hard chores/task around the house.

In my house my children all work together to get the job done. Like if they are to clean the kitchen then I have the nine year old wash the dishes, the four year old dry and put them in the dish drain. I let the three year old wipe off the table and the countertops. Then when it's time to sweep the floor the nine year old or the four year old sweep and then one of them hold the dustpan. If they are to clean their room. They make their own beds, put away their own clothes, and then I vacuum. Now being that my nine and four year old are more independent I usually ask them to help me out more. They don't complain in fact they like helping out around the house. I hope they keep up that same enthusiasm when they get older.

My kids aren't really old enough to do many chores. My oldest is 6 so she does some. The biggest thing I have her do is unload the dishwasher. She usually gets her sister to help. We don't give them an allowance. The only other thing I have them do right now is keep their rooms clean. I don't know if we will work on giving them an allowance or not. Probably once they get older.

I only let my kids do chores when they are wanting pocket money or if they are wanting to buy the new games or game consoles. It could be from anything to washing up the dishes or cleaning the car. It depends however how old the kids are, if they are teenagers then I would give them more work but kids, they would not do chores.
