Family History or Genealogy Software - which one?

We have decided it is that time in our life to make a Family Tree. I know there are dozens of different programs out there to use so I would really appreciate it if Mylot members could let me know which ones they found best and also which programs they did not get along with. Naturally I would like to share the 'Tree' with other members of my family and so the ability to export the data onto a CD would be required. Any ideas?
