I had a horrible nightmare about my beloved Pepper last night. She was my grey tabby that passed away in 2001. She got so sick and weak and I found out her kidneys were failing her so we had to put her on dialysis. I ended up cremating her. Well this nightmare was like that all over again. She was alive, with me, and she got sick all over again. She had trouble walking, falling over every time, and eventually just layed there and wouldnt eat. This devestated me! I woke up crying out her name. Why would I have a nightmare about her like that?? I did have them all the time after she passed, but that was normal. But this many years later?? I thought it was strange.

I have dreams like this all the time. Sometimes I even get up to check on the animals. But last night I was dreaming about a pig running around and my bf was trying to catch it.

Because you loved her so and she is still on your mind. That was a very traumatic experience for you.

Yes and it was very sad to. I went through the same thing with Stuffy. I hope Boots will be around for a while.

Could it be that maybe you were thinking of your cat before going to bed or something and might have triggered the dream? No doubt you still miss her and when she was going through her illness first time round it affected you a lot. Sometimes when one of our pets gets ill we can feel so helpless, and maybe even a bit guilty. I've had to put down some of my cats due to illness too, and felt horrible about it, but at the same time didn't want to see them in pain.

I currently have two kitties and Pyewacket, my black cat loves to sleep all stretched out over my back as I'm a stomach sleeper. I've had cats since I was five years old, so I've had a lot of deaths in the family so to say---there are a number of cats I still miss even though they've been gone a long time..some you just never forget

pyewacket,
Yes I was thinking about her. I usually try to get my cat boots to lay down with me when I go to bed. But he usually throws a fit about being held, so I didn't, and I was thinking about pepper, who always loved to lay with me in bed. I guess that is what triggered it. I still miss her alot. And I do feel a little guilty putting her down, but she was in so much pain and couldn't eat or use her box anymore and in a way I know she was telling me to please end it for her. So maybe that was it. We will never forget the ones we loved after they pass. I know I wont.

HI lagirl; Sorry to hear of your Pepper's illness, how sad and then to relive it again in a dream;
I guess you are still missing her a lot, as I do my deceased pets most recently when my older Cat Minx suddenly went missing I've no idea what became of her other than she must've wandered off to die???
Or some animal got ahold of her I just don't know; That's the part that still bothers me the most, the not knowing of what happened to her;
if I have a pleasant dream of a deceased pet then I like to think that is when they are "visiting me", you know no horrible dreams just a nice experience and even though I wake up sad, I am happy to have had the visit you know?
I swear I'm more attached to my animals than to any deceased family members;

Hi Jan,
I am so sorry for what happened with Minx. That is worse not knowing what happened I think. And I think you are right. Pepper was visiting me. It was her way of telling me "Im still waiting for you here at the bridge" .. even though it was in 2001 that I lost her, and then my beloved cat stuffy in 2004, I know they are happy there. And I will see them again. I was thinking about her when I went to bed that night. But I really think that their spirits visit you to let you know they are waiting for the day you reunite with them. They want to comfort you.
