I don't usually use my cell phone and I finally decided not to have one. I can do my transactions over a land phone and it is more useful for me. i always make sure that before I leave the house for a meeting i call through the land phone the person I am going to meet. Do you think I need to have another cell phone?

If you have given up your cellphone already its okay if you're comfortable with that life style...In my case i prefer cellphones than land line phones...

I am having a good time right now without a cell phone. There are no added phone bills to pay. Thanks for the comment.

In my opinion cell phones are very important. Regardless of age, gender, religion, etc. Everyone above the age of 9 or so should have a cell phone. cell phones come in handy during emergency's and they can help you out in a sticky situation. Imagine this you used your land phone to ensure the person you are meeting is there. so you go. You run out of gas on your way, or your car breaks down. How can you notify the person your meeting? how can you call for a toll truck?
There fore I think I've proven that cell phones are important. You don't have o get a lavish posh pimped out designer apple I-phone. you could just get a plain cheap one for its soul purpose: calling.

Very well said. Your comment made me think for a while if I do really need to have a cell phone or stick with the land phone. I guess I have weighed things out and my final decision is not to have a cell phone for now. I always stay home for my business and my nephews school is just a walk away from our home. My folks always stay close to each other. There will be no big deal emergencies for us. Thanks for your comment.

it depends..if you really think that you can go on without a cell phone then that's fine. maybe you can try doing it for a short while and see how it goes hehe. i sometimes think that i dont need a cell too, as i'm not a very heavy user but i think that i still have to have one with me, in case of emergencies or if people want to contact me while i'm out of the house/office or vice versa.

I don't think I would need to have a cell phone now. I like what I have now. I am free from any unwanted calls or texts. What could be the emergencies here in the Philippines there are so many taxis all around. If things get settled after there is the land line to call my folks.

well if i were you i would just get a track phone so if something comes up and you need a phone you have one for if your care breaks down you have a phone to call for help and not have to walk to a store or walk up to someones house you don't know. i think it would be smart for you to have some kinda phone you don't need anything fancy just something to get the job done if you need it

This really depends on the person who need to have a cell phone and not. I won't need a cell phone. My sister and other brother has one and I always find them having problems loading and they are not using it wisely either. They are just wasting their money for nothing.

Well, I am a busy man. Busy with planting and I also have some friends. They usually give me a call to invite me for some parties and sometimes to have a chat alone. I cared for the people around me. When they learned that I have given up my cell phone they were all sad. I told them that they can still call me through my land line. It worked.

I guess you have a lot of phone calls to do. You may be a very busy person. I am not that busy. I always plant everyday and care for my plants and there are times that I don't want to be disturbed. This really depends on the person who would need to have cell phone. I am busy, but busy with the plants and my plants need my attention and more than a phone ring..

if you can easily be reached through the land line then i dont think you stil have a reason for buying or getting a new cellphone. it will just be a waste of money if you will buy something that you will not use. in this economy we need to be thrifty and frugal at the same time.try to stay that way first let say for a month. if you can exist without a cell for a month then i think you dont need one. if you find it is hard to adjust without a cell then go and get one. have a nice day pal.

Thank you for the advise. I think I won't need a cell phone. I will stick with the use of the land line. It only adds some spending for nothing.

I think that having a cell phone will depend on a person's circumstances and needs. You are the best person to decide for yourself :)
For myself and my husband, we need our phones to communicate with each other during the day when one is out of the house. Reasons range from the important to the mundane. For instance, when he's on his way home from work and I suddenly remembered we don't have bread for breakfast the next morning, I can call and text him to buy one. Or when our son with special needs suddenly has to be brought to the doctor, I can easily call my husband and tell him to come home immediately so he can drive us to the hospital.
My 2 teenage sons each has his own cell phone for emergency purposes such as when they go camping or go on a school trip and I want to be assured that they're doing fine. Or when we have to leave them alone in the house while hubby and I take our special child to the doctor, I can check if they are alright and they can call us in case there is any emergency. But I only transfer load or credits to their phones when needed. They know enough that social calls can be made using the land line phone where the charges are fixed and won't cost us more money.

Oh yes, I understand how you badly need to have a cell phone for every member of your family. I am living in my parents house together with the rest of the family. I have 3 brothers and a sister and a 6 year old nephew. Only my sister has a job and the others are usually staying in the house. I am busy with planting, I have a little nursery of plants and I sell them.
My sister has a cell phone but she rarely use it to contact us when she is in her office. My father has a cell phone so that if problems or emergencies arises with my sister there will be a way to communicate. You were right about having cell phones for your family members.
Thanks for the comment.

Nobody NEEDS a phone at all. Except a telephone operator. But they are useful. Personally I don't have a cell phone and live quite happily without it. I do get weird looks sometimes because "everyone" has one. Most people that I see using them are making calls that they don't need to make anyway. Business loves them because now you are always contactable even when you are away. Only you can answer your question, but I think that you can live quite easily without. Enjoy the freedom that it brings.

That is one good reason not to have a cell phone. That is also what I do not like about cell phones--receiving unwanted messages. There are times that you are trying to run away from other people and yet they get to reach you through your cell phone. This is one reason why I don't want to have a cellphone again.

I wish I could stop using my cell phone, but I can't. It's my way to stay updated, and to do things without moving around. Most of my time i'm not at home, and I keep being in touch with my family and friends, so cell phone for me is a really good thing.

Well people tend to misuse the facilities they get so it turns out to be a headache for them.but as far as the cell phone is concerned they can be very useful in many conditions like i the case of any medical emergencies or any accident.people can get in touch with you while you r away from ur home and give you some very important information.thats why keeping a cell phone is always a good idea!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get your idea. There may be times that I would need a cell phone in situations where there is no other means of communication to find. You were right about having a cell phone in times of emergencies when you are away from home. I always stay home and my work is at home. I can provide cell phones for my love ones if they are going to be away from home.

I always stay home. I always do my transactions at home. In case of emergencies cell phones are not that reliable. It fails at times. There are also problems using a cell phone. If I have a meeting outside home I make sure that everything is set on time.

I am skeptical to buy another cell phone. It is no use to me. In our country you can use the land line anytime you want without any battery to charge. Plus we don't pay extra charges for any call. The payment is fixed in a certain amount. I find it a lot cheaper. I am having so many hassles with the cell phones like having its battery charge and it cost a little to our electricity bills. I need to load it when needed. I am fine with the land line. Thanks for your comment.

in my case, i just cannot go anywhere without my cellphone. just recently my cellphone had develop some problem and i realize just how i depended on it. And its also safer if you have your cellphone with you all the time especially for a woman. and i put my cellphone on all the time even while i am asleep and its wonderful to wake up and see new messages from friends on my cell in the morning.

It is really up to you. If you feel that you don't need it then it is okay. For me, I don't know how can I live without my cell phone. It's my major means of communication with my friends. Messaging is way cheaper here in our country. I seldom use our land phone.

Hello Mr Plus. I think that it is better to have a cell phone in case some emergency happens. Since we are now at an age of IT, why not make full use of it? This is what I think. As to your personal case, it is up to you to decide whether to have one or not. Take care, friend.
