A microsoft program

I was looking at the programs intalled on my computer, just in case there is something I don't think I need. I saw microsoft C++ visual 2005 redistributable. Does anyone know what that is and do I need it?

It is a runtime library supplied by Microsoft. It has many useful functions used by other programs. Some of the utilities, games and/or other software may use the functions in microsoft c++ visual 2005 redistributable.
You can remove it. If you find any one of the existing programs fails, you can download from microsoft free of cost and install in your system.

Thanks. I think I'll keep it on for now. I do play a few games.
