Role of CHEERLEADERS????

Hey guys, nowadays CHEERLEADERS have become a common thing in all forms of games and sports....
So do you CHEERLEADERS are very essential or are they a mere distraction to the beautiful games????

I think that cheerleaders can be a very important part of game. I remember going to my sons basketball games where the team played with no energy, however when the cheerleaders came out and did their routines at halftime, the crowd was much more into the game and they played a lot better. I think that the main role of cheerleaders is support and getting the crowd into the game and I would say that they are fairly important to the outcome of a game.
