Giving a gift to someone you are really close to will be a personal one based on what type of gift you want to give. If you want to give them something to feel good about or to help them or something you know they want but put off getting or even something they would enjoy but you know they would never buy for themselves.
The gift should represent the person's personality and preferences. It is hard to be specific without more information.

The more personal the gift, the more thought put into choosing something specifically for that person, even if you make something yourself, the more it will be appreciated.

I will buy a desktop for my husband as a gift. He already has a laptop and tablet but I know deep in his heart he wanted to have desktop but he cant because I object. The truth is I will be the one who give him what he wants as a anniversary gift to him this coming June 11.
By the way, for me gifts are just a material things which you can buy it anywhere, it might be expensive or cheap but the important is you gave that present with full of love and without any expectation in return. No matter what kind of gift you will give to your love ones, friends or relatives as long as it from you heart I am sure they will glad, happy and remember it for the rest of their lives.

I usually get my best friend jewelry. But for her last birthday I bought her a set of CDs and a nice top. I find it is hard to pick clothing for people, but when it is your best friend you have a better chance than average to get something they like. And thankfully she loves that top.

First I find out what his choice and then buy according to his choice only. Because gift must be according to the person who is the taker of this gift.

It would be nice and memorable if you will give your love and best friend a pillow with a picture of yours in the pillow case.

This is not the best..the best would be something very personal and sentimental. But I was just thinking about this today. If I were to choose an actual present to get from someone I loved no matter who it was I think jewelry would be smart. It is pretty, functional, can be sentimental, and lasts a long time (some of it). Plus it doesn't matter if it's real or just a cheap simple piece to wear around, it is still pretty and meaningful on some level. Plus it hopefully is functional as well and can be worn. And everytime the person wears it they think of you

It would depend on who I am buying for. I would buy my best friend something different than I would buy someone that I am with. It would also depend what my friend was into then. She , my best friend, loves the different amine series. I would get her a book or a movie of the one that she was into during that time.
