I love to grow plants. Sometimes, I do very well, other times, I kill them off horribly! I made a decision this weekend. I am going to use my hobby of growing plants to help me make extra money. I will get them started good and then sell them for less than they could be bought in the stores, but not so much that I lose money doing it. I think this is one good way of putting my hobby to good use!
So, do you use your hobbies to help make extra money?

I write too. As a matter of fact, I have over 100 articles on one site. I get writer's block at times myself. Sometimes, it is feast or famine for my writing. I have had days when I have sat down and written 10 great articles, and other days when I have trouble writing one decent one. I found that if I don't try to force it, the ideas come on their own.

In fact by making use of your hobby is one of the best ways as it's something that you are passionate about. I love doing classes and helping people grow mentally and i also love stuffs revolving psychology. So, i do quite a lot of small workshops on parenting and also self-help group learning soft-skills.

Hey!
I think that mylot is a very good example for using hobbies to help make extra money.
I really like to talk to people, to hear differnt thoughts and to share my thoughts about differnt topics.
In mylot I use my hobbie of internet and I make some money from that.
Another thing, I had used to build websites and I had money trough them.
I like computers Html and stuff like that and on the internet you have a lot of ways to earn wxtra money.
Have a good day and good luck with earning extra money!

Yup! I am using my hobby to help me make extra money. I love to cross-stitch and I have been paid many many times sewing for others. As a matter of fact just recently I have submitted a cross-stitch to a client and earned.
I like to garden too and I once planned to make money out of it. I wanted to plant euphorbias cause they're very easy to grow. But a lot of people in my hometown have been growing the plant and I somehow got tired looking at every house seeing euphorbias. It was a craze that time. But now I think the craze has subsided already. But if I have time I still would want to earn from my gardening.
It's really nice if we think of making good use of our hobbies. Even staying in our homes we can still make extra money and we become productive in life. It's a good example for housewives too!
Good luck and sell lots of plants!

Hey thanks for the encouragement! You know I really plan to make money out of my crafting hobbies. I would actually want to learn how to make dog dresses. I have pets and I like to dress them up. I also know how to sew but not very much so I think I need a little more knowledge before selling dog dresses. I can also make
jewelries. I have been making for my friends already and earning. I'm hoping someday I can put up my own site where I can sell my stuffs online.
I seldom get bored staying the whole day at home cause I can always find things to occupy my mind. Sometimes I have so many ideas but so little time to make them all happen. But nonetheless, I'm still happy with my hobbies and I know I can make money from them one by one.
Happy posting!

That is really good. I bet that you can easily find and fill the next craze too. Today, cross-stitch, tomorrow, sheets? I know a lay who doesn't like to use a top sheet on her bed, so, she takes her top sheets to be made into fitted sheets. I bet you could do something like that and make a nice income.
I think that anybody can make ewxtra money if they realy want to . Sometimes, you just have to dg deep inside to find your own personal way.

Hi lynnemg,
At these times, it is good to put our skills into good use whether we start off with our hobbies or career.
I'm glad you had thought of making use of your hobbies to earn extra income. I do, too. I love gardening but since I am working here in the city and always in front of the computer, I had nowhere else to do my gardening. I love surfing the net or just watching online movies. When I was referred by a friend in mylot, I have learned that I can put this hobby to good use by earning an extra income online. I can even do this on my few breaks at work... especially on mylot, I love it here and not only I can earn online but I can also learn a lot from the members all over the world.

I think that now, is probably the best time for people to be creative. I don't look at the problems in the economy as a horrible thing. I look at it as a world of opportunity opening up to all that dare to go through that door.
I actually stumbled upon this site when I started here, and I am glad I did. I enjoy the discussions and the people here. It is a nice way for me to have adult conversation, and earn a bit at the same time.

That's true lynnemg. I had shown mylot to a friend and he said "wow!" lol He enjoys discussions like this and he asked me to join here lol... So I think he'll be participating here more than I am since this is one of his hobbies and at the same time he will be earning on here... hahaha
Have a great enjoyable day at mylot....

You could use your skills and try your hand at catering smaller parties. I love to cook too, and every time I make something that my husband really likes, he has to take it to work and share. The guys have told him multiple times that I should open a restaraunt, but, I am not quite ready for that.

At the moment, yes I do. I am just starting so it's not really giving me very big income.
I love to write; I just started my blog workingpinoys.blogspot.com I also join sites that reward me for writing. All of them I've also written in my blog.
I feel fulfilled whenever I have enough time to do these things online.

way to go. More people should use things they enjoy. I learned a little craft item from my Mother years ago and now I sell them on ebay. Its not fast but I make a little extra money with it. Its fun and something I would do anyway and I would get overwhelmed with to many so thats why i tired ebay.

Well, I have hobbies but i don't think i consider them for an opportunity for business or money making because i have a lot of friends who are doing it already and if i compete then i would loose business. but i have a business now and it's doing good for a change.

I haven't tried it yet but I will. I have a rabbit and it's my hobby to take care of pets so I will try to find a mate for my rabbit and will breed it to sell it to a pet shop or someone who is interested in taking care of it.

hello lynne :-) i really don't although i wish i can, like my wife who works as a freelance writer too. i envy people who are able to use their talents to earn extra bucks. they are lucky people. it is just like having a profession that sounds like play to other people such as being a singer, basketball player. etc.

You can do anything that you set your mind to. My husband has told me multiple times that he wouldn't know what to do to make m oney if he wsn't at his current job. The thing is that he has a lot of skills in many areas, and I know he could do great in any of them. I bet you hold yourself back a bit too.

yup. i love crocheting, cooking and baking. my mother and i used to crochet some stuffs like coin purse for personal use. but we tried to sell them in market and it work. it's very fun to do this kind of stuffs and then the people will buy it and even though it's very tiring it gives us good income. i also cook pastillas and sell it. it's a candy made of powder milk and condense milk cook until it holds a form. once it is cooled, i rounded it into a ball and roll it in granulated sugar. it taste really good, you can try it too. :)

I think I have had that candy before, but I know my kids haven't! I may have to try that this weekend when I have a housefull of kids.
My Mom used to do a lot of crocheting too. She made some beautiful bed-dolls and other things. I think that she just got out of her groove after doing it for many years. She also loves doing ceramics.
For me, normally, it is more practical things like writing and gardening. Eventually, I will get to the point where I am ready to do more.
