Why Kindness is Good for You

There's a new theory called the "survival of the nicest", which believes that kindness will not only make you happier, it might help one to live longer. The human race is rich with stories of kindness: from the redemption of Scrooge to Snow White, to Santa Claus--we always admire those who are kind. Even children appreciate so much those acts of kindness shown to a fellow human being. According to the theory, kindness is a key component to the survival of communities. Groups with many altruists tend to survive. Kindness can help regulate emotions, which has a positive impact on our health, and the survival of the human race. So, do you agree? Our society has so many things that make life rough--a dent in your car, a door slammed in your face, a noisy neighbor amidst your sleep--all these are due to lack of consideration. So, if we want to survive and live longer, let's all show acts of kindness towards family members, friends, and people we meet. Any reaction?

I do agree with you. That would be the health and better way to live.Every time you smile to others,in the same way you will get a good mood.We can`t live without smile and kindness,if so ,the life would become boredom and dark.Maybe the sun will be shine, but your heart will be raining for you always do sth unkindness.Your friends would leave you, your neighbour would dislike you, your boss would give a long face.So why change your way to life, more consideration to friends, more help to your neighbour, more smile to your boss.Life and work both would be better!

Compassion and consideration for your fellowmen are believed to be great virtues one could possess. The kindness showered on a fellow being is likely to fetch in plenty of rewards .Though bad deeds gain at the initial stages, only good ones have an everlasting effect. So one has to be kind and benevolent to at least those around .

that is so true. i do believe that being nice will more benefit us than other people cause if we are nice that we always have good emotional state and our mind is always clear. and that we can think straight. and we will avoid making mistakes.

I do agree with that. If your happy and kind, you dont get angry as easily. If you dont get angry easily you wont stress alot. Which is a good thing since stress causes alot of diseases. it can cause strokes, heart attacks, etc. So I can see where they come from when they say it can help you live longer. I am a very kind person. I dont get angry much. But at my family i kind of do. I should change that.

I agree, i stick by the saying, "Do not do onto others what they did onto you". I'm not sure if that was how it went, but well, you get how it goes right? I believe in that saying that you will be a better person through such kindness and understanding. Of course it isn't that easy to not want to take revenge on someone who had hurt you in a way but yea, i believe we'll live happier and longer bearing lesser grudges or better, none at all. :)
