Don't you think the Indian skipper is bit overrated. Thanks to media MS Dhoni is more than what he actually is. His team may be on the winning spree but calling him the best captain of India is something too much. Don't you think?

MS Dhoni is not overrated according to me. Whatever he has achieved is due to his
commitment and hard work. But in INDIA , if u win consistently , they will
say , "LUCK FOR CAPTAIN" AND if u lose consistently , they will say "IRRESPONSIBLE
CAPTAIN" . Media wants to make headlines and not MS DHONI.

So, can u tell me the name of the captain who has consistently won
the matches with great merit (and not even a single bit of luck)

No i don't tHink so, See the change in the INDIAN team's Performance after DHONI's come back in the tHird test. He is the best Of Indian captains. His presence brings great power to the TEam.

i expected this when dhoni returned to the third test.for heaven's sake people, sehwag was asked to captain in a pitch which is not a result oriented one.u can expect the bowlers to take 20 wickets in such a flat track.what more, the best bowler in this match zaheer got all his wickets caught behind or caught by himself.how can u praise the captain for the bowlers achievement?

A lot of people envy his success and they do not like people praising him too much.
The matter of fact is that he has always delivered with the bat when it has mattered the most and he has handled his team extremely well in all forms of the game. It is true that the luck factor has also favored him but then, as the old saying goes, "The harder you work, the luckier you get."
he might not be the best wicket keeper in the world right now but he is way above "average".
he is not the best captain of India but I am sure in another 4-5 years time he would get that tag as well, because we are going to win a lot many series overseas under him.

I would not call him the best captain of India, rather its appropriate to call him the LUCKIEST captain of India. Yes he is overrated. Once he looses a couple of series, people will start to pelt stones. This is what happens in India Doesnt it?

Yeah, the media is giving him a lot of hype. Media is always looking for someone who makes news, and MS Dhoni is in the headlines. He has been consistent in his performance. If you perform well you will obviously get the appreciation. Dhoni is getting what he deserves, but he is getting much more than what he actually deserves. The most important thing is how he handles it. Unless he does not get carried away with the attention that he is receiving, i think its fine that people overrate him.

yes it is too early to sayt hat he is the best captain and its not just that . the media seems to imply that we arewinning only because ms dhoni is the captain. lets face it when it all starte in the t20 world cup india played very well but dhoni had a lot of luck on his side which he generally has in all the matches. this indian team is one of the best indian teams and has the best bowling attacks which is essential to win matches around the world. i think sachin tendulkar go it spot on when he said a captain is only as good as his team.
