I am normally not that kind of a girl who is very confident in facing the crowd whether in school, college gathering or kind of any function am really very scared to stand alone, now am married and has three year old son, yesterday was his annual day function and he took part in fancy dress instead of him I was so scared that my tears came rolling when I see him coming out to the platform. How about you, do you feel scared? Have you participated in any individual events?

Hi,
I have stage fright as well and I don't like to involve in any individual performance that require me to perform in front of a crowd. I think its because I am an introvert by nature. However, I think this fear can be overcome by taking part in more public speaking.

i used to be a really shy person, but ever since i joined drama class for 2 years, it changed me. im really outgoing now. like before i get in front of a big crowd i still get shaky, but i kind of push myself to just do it to get it over with & when i get up on that stage all my fear just goes away.

Yes, I also used to experience the anxiety first few times and even now during the first 2 or three minutes of a presentation. Then after that it goes off.
The important thing is not the fear but how we respond to it. Fear is very normal. What is important is that we allow it to come and go without fighting with it or running away from it.
All the responses above make it clear that if you are exposing yourself to the activity that causes fear regularly the fear tends to diminish and then go off.

I took Drama class for a short time in high school and hated it. I really hate having to speak in front of ppl. I was really bad about it when I was a kid but now that I'm older, although I still don't like it, I'm not as bad about it. I don't think anyone should be forced to do it.

in my job I do speeches and meet people face to face or groups of people.
I am quite a confident person so large numbers of people or being in front of people doesnt faze me at all, but have been running my own business for 5 years and even before that I used to do public speaking etc etc.
So nah am used to it, but I also know people who couldnt do it even if they wanted to.

i dont.. well, i have been practiced to speak infront of the crowd. When i was in highschool and grade school, i have joined several contests like oration, declamation, speech choir, story telling and these events requires me to be infront of the crowd. At first, i get scared, but then i get the hang of it. Especially when i turned 16 and joined several beauty contests, and it really requires confidence when you are on stage.. i find all my experiences helpful for me in building my self esteem.

It's common that most people feel nervous when they do speeches in front of many people.I think you may be too shy.I learned that many great people also have the similar feeling before they won their reputation. But they got over it successfully.Confidence is important to solve this problem. You shouls encourage yourself to meet people face to face, most people are friendly, they don't want to hurt you. After some practice, when you have found the joy of this, you will be better.

yup i do have stage fear..i just dont like t stand in front of lots of people..or being at the centre of the attention.that is my weakness.i try to avoid being on that kind of situation.the only confidence i can get when being on a crowd or stage when me and my band are making a gigs.they support me and i just have to push myself to do it. i get very nervous after.but after a few minute making a perfomance it feel much better and very confident.i dont think i can go solo..

Initially i also have stage fear.
During my school life I just appeared only once on the stage that too on my farewell speech.
In my college life I explored my presentation skills and then in the final year of my graduation I did some presentation which were appreciated very well.

Right from the start of schooling I've been on stage for some event or the other. But for almost upto age of 12-13 I was very nervous on stage. But later it diminished. I had participated in my school events, college events and even in my work place. Though the stage fear had reduce, I would not say it has vanished completely.... That little tension would always be there in depth of my heart till I start my performance.

i used to be really afraid of embaresing myself, but now i just do me. i do not care what others think, and that is a good thing now. i have no problems getting in front of a crowd. i actually enjoy it most of the time. i really had to get over my stage fright in my spanish class considering i suck at spanish.

I think you should strengthen your confidence. There several ways to strengthen your confidence.First:smile and glance at the audience.Second:Start very slowly, with your shoulders back and your chin up.Third:Open your speech by saying something very frankly. forth:Wear your very best clothes.Last:say something positive to yourself.I think if you often do that you will be freely in the public.
Gain your confidence and you will be succeed!Believe yourself!

I used to have stage fear when I started worship leading in front of the church congregation but after having to do it every week in church on Sunday, the fear went away. There was also the first time I led worship in a big church in front of a big concregation...freaked out did I even though my husband to be was beside me. we wroshipped led together. But that night was my breakthrough. After that night, the fear broke off and I never felt fear anymore till today. No more fear but just led worship on front of big crowds at ease.........

when i was still in High School, i think i will die if i am in front of the stage, my voice shutters like a glass speaking in front of a crowd. i really don't know why, i feel so pressured and so nervous just by standing in front of the stage. after so many years, i can say that i can now face the crowd with confidence but not 100% hehe...just the right combination to talk, face and interact with them.

i am introvert by nature but i don't have any kind of stage fear. when i have to face peolpe and be on the stage i am full of confidence. believe me, at times when i start losing confidence, i act to show my comfidence. i don't let my body language show that i have lost confidence.
well, some how after reading you i felt that the tears that rolled down your cheeks were not because you were scared but because you were too happy to see your child facing the crowd boldly.

I don't like being in front of people either. For me to stand up in front of people especially by myself and give a speech it makes me very anxious. My palms sweat, I shake, my voice quivers and most times I get physically ill. Even in front of people I know.

I'm normally really shy and bad with talking to people, but oddly I love to act. On stage I'm fearless, I think it's all about taking on another persona. If you are so completely absorbed into a character that you feel different emotions, then you don't have stage fright. Unless the character you are playing would. However, if I'm myself, giving a speech or something, I get trembly, turn bright red, stutter, speak waaay to fast. It really depends on the situation.

I dont feel scared, but I do become very nervous every time I speak or do something with people watching. I will talk faster and faster, and sometimes in the end I talked so fast that I almost got myself choked.. Sometimes there are unconscious movements of body or hands too. Really annoy me.
