That particular brand of peanut butter pulled out in malls was made from peanuts imported from China. We all know that China has many contamination issues like lead contamination on plastic products, melamine on milk, and others. I still like peanut butter, I just make sure where the peanuts came from. I still patronize it especially when it is made in the philippines... =p

I believe this is an unfair assumption. Salmonella staining in peanut products are more of preparation problem and not as to where the peanuts came from. So whether the peanuts came from China, US or locally produced, Salmonellosis can occur if the production was carried out without following healthy precautions.

Salmonelle contamination in peanut butter is an isolated case in a particular brand. So just avoid that brand and enjoy your peanut butter spread. There are other food which we should avoid especially on street foods. Salmonella causes typhoid fever so we we should eat only food that we think are safe. It is good BFAD have checked those peanut butter brands.

I still like peanut butter because I buy the homemade one which is more cheaper but i just don't buy from anybody. i usually buy from friends who make and sell their own homemade peanut butter.

peanut butter - perfect for breakfast
I think I'd steer clear from local brands for a while. We really don't know if they're contaminated or not but it's best to be cautious than be sorry. Also, I'm not a big fan of peanut butter so I guess it won't affect me much.

Well, I do love peanut butter. Even when there was the outbreak, I was still eating the stuff. I have monitored the pull out of such products and the particular brand that was pulled out. It was only affecting some brands and not all. So I have continued eating peanut butter since I love it. In fact I never run out of peanut butter at home.

I still love peanut butter and I do still use it daily for my "pan de sal". As experts have pointed out, Salmonella was found only in the particular brand pulled out from the market and negative in other brands. So why the paranoia? The chances of poisoned from Salmonella from a peanut butter is the same as being poisoned from any other preserved foods. If you want to make sure of what you eat, cook well all canned goods before serving them. Well, for the peanut butter, I am not sure if re-cooking the butter will kill that particular micro-organism and will not change the flavor of the product.

Hi idolkosivalsotto, good day to you my Kababayan. Hey, i visit your profile then i see that we have a same location here Bataan, which Mariveles. By the way i send you a friend request please confirm it so we can be friend. Regarding to your discussion, since i was in grade three i really love peanut butter especially when there is a bread which is toasted because toasted bread and peanut butter is the best match up or couple when eating in my own taste, i do not know to other if we have the same touge. But now i with the past news, we all know that some of PEANUT butter that are came in China are contaminated due to SALMONELLA that causes for many Filipino store to pulled it out in the market, in order to avoid some disease it my cause with the people, with this reason now i really no longer eat Peanut butter because i do not want to be infected with Salmonela. Well, we all know that some products and goods that are came to China are not good, so we must be alert when buying some kind of goods that are from China. With this reason, i only just use chesse in my favorite toasted breed because chesse and peanut butter have one thing in common which is very delicious to the taste, especially in the morning for your breakfast together with a hot coffee. Hehe... lol. Hmmp, when the topic really about food, i really feel hungry. By the way in addition, the reason why some products of China are very popular is because of the reason it is very affordable, which causes for other poor or low standard people to buy this kind of good, even sometimes it became dangerous to the help of consumer. Well, if China will continue this kind of things in their country. The population of them will decrease because of the number of people who die with this cause. Well, that's all my response with your forum topic discussion. Happy posting and happy earning to us here in this site mylot. Good luck and God bless us always here in this site.

I'm not fond of eating peanut butter so I'm not affected in the salmonella issue. For our own safety we need to be sure that our food that we buy is clean and safe for consumption. The affected local brand here is yummy so you can buy another brand. Buy the brand that approved by the BFAD and avoid buying the retail one in Palengke because you can't ensure the cleanliness of it.
